Secure the ladder to the ground?

With the height of our rig and the mounting of our tent, the stock extension ladder was right at the threshold of perfect and too short. After spending a couple years with it, I decided to look into a telescoping ladder. A buddy had a spare NIB Tepui ladder he gave us. We have been very...

My wheel base is so long...

I made a few 7-point turns, but I was always happy with how my 87 Chevy longbed performed on the trail.

What's the modern equivalent of the Eee netbook?

I've used and loved my Eee 701 for many years. None of the diminutive ergonomics were ever an issue, but the low-res screen, 4 GB SSD, and 630 MHz Celeron are a useless combo for current web browsing and modern software. (For those that don't know, the Eee was slightly bigger than a DVD case...

Driving home today, I was thinking about my LX470 and the whole LC line

They use timing belts? Ewww. But you sound like an interesting fellow. I'd love to see pics from some of your travels!

Is my BaoFeng rubber ducky REALLY better than a Nagoya whip?

On YouTube, the guys are adding a 19" wire to the screws on the belt clip or the antenna base. That seems to help.

    GMRS? Baofeng?

Some say that a license is when your rights are taken from you, with the option of being sold back... I tend to hold the mindset of no victim, no crime. Using a radio - at any frequency - to talk to the guy on the trail with you or to check in with base camp while you're out on a hike hardly...

    MaxTrax, are they worth it?

Buy something cheaper to start with and see if they fit your needs. The GoTreads I picked up at Expo East 2016 have really impressed me. ~$100 a pair. https://gotreads.com/product/gotreads-2-pack/ You can customize the length and if you ruin a section, they're repairable with new pieces...

    Easy Access Cooking Table

In your case, I'd use something like https://www.rei.com/product/765280/rei-co-op-camp-roll-table Actually, I'd use it in any case. My buddy has 3 he sets up all together. You can't have too many options when it comes to elevated surfaces for cooking or cleaning.

What are you using for a coffee maker and coffee brand when camping/overlanding?

We just do Folgers Instant and Starbucks via. Water is measured with the coffee cups and thrown in a small pan with a lid. It's then heated with a Coleman 502 single-burner stove. You can kinda see things here.

    HEMA Explorer North America

I subscribed earlier this year. It looks like it has the feature set I want, but when downloading offline maps, I've had problems getting full zoomed-in clarity. I broke my phone that same trip though so I haven't looked into it since then.

    HEMA Explorer North America

That link is for their other app au.com.hemamaps.globalexplorer covering Australia and the country it's set for is Great Britain. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=au.com.hemamaps.explorer&hl=en works for US devices, but it's not the Hema North America Explorer app.

WTB used Roof Top Tent travel cover

Very reasonable! I looked into doing the XJ headliner myself just for the sake of creating a how-to. The proper adhesive alone would have cost almost as much as they charged for the job.

    RTT question - Opinions welcome

We've had our Smittybilt tent for about 2½ years now. Going in, I was unsure of how much I'd like it and how much I'd use it, and it just seemed like the model with the lowest buy-in could be sold easier than a more expensive model. With maybe 30 nights in it, I have been thoroughly satisfied...

Mr heater buddy heaters in tents overnight

I gotta say, think about our litigious society. If there were any legitimate deaths from them, they wouldn't still be on the market. Yes, the risk is there just because of the nature of the product, but the instances of problems must be virtually nonexistent for these to still be available.

Camp chair for a big guy that still packs down small...

BJs Wholesale has Due North chairs. I bought one, and was given a second one as a gift. I'm 5'10" and about 280 lbs. These things feel like furniture! I hate iPhone. I don't know why these pics are 90° off.
