    Gas storage option

126.2 lbs when full. The size plus the weight make it nothing to sneeze at. I'd like to find one that only held 5 gallons.

    Food storage for long trips

I portion and freeze meats, then use a separate cooler with ice packs. The big cooler with the melty ice is just for drinks.

    Oil and anti-freeze storage

You carry the hoses too? What about a spare radiator? A spare cap? A heater core bypass hose? Where do you draw the line? :coffeedrink:

show your cb radio and antenna install

Bad pic from the XJ, but I used a piece of flat aluminum stock that mounted between the clips for the sun visor. I then used the included mounted bracket that came with the Uniden PRO520XL. The Firestik antenna is located on a Firestik stainless mount. On the FJ, I reused the Firestik...

Reality of cargo trailers off road?

On a technical trail of any real difficulty, I imagine the reality is a lot of frustration and inconvenience.

Using a Tarp instead of an Awning

I tried it before going with the real deal.

    DeLorme inReach from REI

Got my dividends today. That would have sweetened the deal even more. And I got to use the device over the weekend!

    DeLorme InReach (original) vs SE

What I've gathered is that the only difference between the two is the GPS Navigation feature. I could be wrong. A couple weeks ago I picked up the Delorme version of the Explorer on clearance. I've sent a couple test messages with it, but I really just bought it for check-ins while I'm out...

2" receiver cargo basket rated for 1000#...? Feedback on idea, please?

Add a front receiver. Split the load up. You're good to go, assuming it's for personal use. If it's business use? Now you've got DOT/HAZMAT considerations and it's probably a no-go.

    RTT mount question

Only one I could think of was the Overland Bound rig.

Nothing but problems with my Tepui, advice?

Are you sure you're setting the tent up right? It almost looks like you're not using the ladder to properly support the floating half of the floor. That would put too much pressure on the lip and the hinges, resulting in some of the damage you've described.

    Ozark Trail/Walmart camping equipment

Definitely. And with that in mind, I have been delighted with my Smitty RTT and 8½' awning.

    Ozark Trail/Walmart camping equipment

That's it. You have to look at the product and choose accordingly. I feel the same way about Smittybilt gear. Sometimes good enough is just right.

Pics of rig packed up ready to go?

I was planning on 4 days, but could have stayed at least a week. I eventually want to built a fridge/cooler tray and some drawers, but this modular setup cost me nothing, makes packing easy, and everything fits great.

    Non-touristy quick dry clothing

Maybe it's just how I move?

    Non-touristy quick dry clothing

I have a pair of the shorts. The only downside is they make that poly/swishy sound like swimming trunks. I also have several pairs of REI Sahara convertible pants. They have proven surprisingly durable, which I never would have expected.

    Nexus 7 16gb for $40...should I?

My 2013 is still a solid performer. Android version updates are still available from the Nexus Root Toolkit. I paid ~$130 for it new three years ago. Great device! And if you ever get tired of doing regular tablet stuff with it...

    Lockers for Truck & Camper

I've added rear lockers to several vehicles. I wouldn't own a rig without one now. It effectively doubles your traction. What's not to like? The only theoretical negative I can think of is when you're running on canted trail that's muddy or icy. Then the locker can cause that end of the...

    DeLorme inReach from REI

Wow, that is an awesome price! I have been waiting on the annual REI member coupon to come out to buy one. This price is even better! *ETA* I was getting an error on the InReach SE, so I gave them a call. Their inventory is showing 10 units, but for some reason none are available for sale...
