Return of Safety Devices, SD, racks

If I didn't already have one, I'd want them to bring back the Expedition rack. I voted for "with roof rails" ---- removing the rails, at least on a D1, is a pretty huge pain in the *** as you have to drop the headliner to get at those bolts. I took me a good 2 hours.

    225/75/16 too narrow for a Disco 1?

    Nope, it's a J-code from a '91-'93 HMMWV.

I don't know anything about Yotas... is it just me or is that a pretty good deal?

The internet told me Land Rovers are very good off road!

    225/75/16 too narrow for a Disco 1?

Jeremy, I don't think you'll see a very appreciable MPG difference with a 2" lift and anything in the 225/75-245/75 range. It certainly won't pull you down to 8 mpgs.

Opinions on 130 body configuration please

Agreed, those both look very strange and artificial. The classic 130 (isn't it actually 127"?) looks the best, IMO

Defender 110; vs Range Rover classic

Yeah... I seem to remember his stock being more varied and a bit more affordable. I don't recognize that website, either, so I might be way off the mark.

Defender 110; vs Range Rover classic

Eric, check out Global Land Rovers: http://www.globallandrovers.com/ I haven't used them, but others have and he seems to have a pretty good reputation. If I remember correctly, they'll even do mild builds for you so you can get the configuration you want.

    Disco II tire question

The reason most switch to a 16" or even 15" is because the tire selection is somewhat limited for 18" wheels.

Defender 110; vs Range Rover classic

I dunno what year group Customs uses, but 2012 minus 25 years would put you at 1987.... and it wasn't officially the "Defender" yet, just "LR 110". I think they even labelled it "One Ten", correct me if I'm wrong. In a few more years we'll be able to finally import the [official] Defender 110...

    Disco II tire question

In my opinion, Discos are svelte expedition vehicles that quickly lose their class when built like "HardKore Krawlers."

Defender 110; vs Range Rover classic

Eric with your tech/fabbing skills, you could import a tired old 110 from England relatively inexpensively (~$10k-$15k) and then polish it up. It'll be RHD, though, and I heard the parts to convert it to LHD are getting very rare/expensive. The NAS 110s have got to be one of the most...

    225/75/16 too narrow for a Disco 1?

You'll find that for the D1s and RRCs -- as far as looks go -- the narrower the better (IMO). Didn't the CT trucks run a 215 or something? I'm still on the fence about tall-n-skinnys on a DII.

'94 Land Rover Discovery Series I

I've seen this truck in person -- the spray-in headliner looks remarkably good.

looking at a 95 lr with 130,000...need info

130k is pretty long in the tooth... that thing will probably have all sorts of cute squeaks, whistles, and groans.

Great write-up, thanks for sharing! You're lucky you only lost the fuel pump. I'd be going for the $3k Bell & Ross on your wrist. :sombrero:

    Buying a 1998 Discovery 1 Tomorrow!!!!!!!

I used to get 17-19 mpg highway out of my bone-stock '96 D1 pretty consistently, so I'm not surprised. I honestly think it's the roof-rack, not a mild lift, that kills mpgs. The SD rack on my 4.6 costs me 3 highway miles per gallon.
