    JK Overlanding/Spare Carrier Hood?

I personally like this idea and don't think it's just to achieve some sort of a look. No it won't work for a really wide tire or if you're short, but it helps to distribute the weight evenly between the wheels. That's probably more important on a 2 door than on a 4 door.

Wrangler YJ Windscreen -> Roll Hoop bolt size/thread

I tried to remove the bolt but it's a tamper proof torx with the pin. I have a hard top on but I tried measuring the head. I'm guessing it's probably a 10mm Pan Head bolt. It threads into some blind threads inside the tube so I would think 16-25mm long should work. If I can find a tamper...

HOW-TO: DIY Drinking Water Tank, Pump and Filtration System

Dan, great write-up but one concern on your design. When you pump from the tank, you've cross contaminated the water in the tank. At least you do run that water back through the filter/UV. Without 2 pumps, guess you couldn't do it any other way. Would the filter plug up faster by double...

Barn Door for JK factory hardtops

Need to make it hold 7 switches instead of 4, although that might violate a trademark. :sombrero:

Any info on this hard top?

It's all custom. Built from a Tamiya YJ RC model. Interior space is probably a little tight. 😀

    diesel Grand Cherokee mpg

I rented a Ram 1500 with the EcoDiesel and a flat bed trailer to go get a broken Audi in Longmont CO. I averaged 24.6 mpg pulling a 2500 lb empty trailer there and 19.4 overall. Didn't check the mileage on the leg back but must have averaged 14 or 15 pulling a 6500 lb load. And doing a 1000 mile...

That look like the Lake Como trail. Possibly Jaws 1 or 2?

Largest tire size for stock (no lift) 83 CJ5

I have a bone stock YJ with 30X9.50s mounted on the stock 15X6 rims. I rub lightly on the front springs when turned hard but otherwise clear. I haven't tried 31s but looking at how mine fit, I don't see that there is enough room for anything bigger. Rim selection would be critical. I'm not sure...

Thinking about a YJ, have a question.

1989 YJ owner here. I measure 37" at the top of the wheel wells and 35" at the top of the tub. This is with a hard top and takes in to account any bumps in the tailgate/window. It's 35" between the wheel wells. The YJ is an acquired taste. I have a base model which my dad bought new. Only...

    Smallest four-wheeled expedition vehicle?

I really like this build and appears to be well designed. Is the RTT really long enough to sleep in comfortably?

Cherokee 3.0 crd / Wrangler swap can it be done yes

I think it would be easier to get the BCM of the Wrangler to talk to the ECM and TCM using some sort of interface module to convert the protocol. Seems like a lot less work than fitting independent suspension to the JK. Also, don't remember if the Mercedes diesel in the 2007 GC used DEF, but...

Willys Wagon. Where can I find a roof rack?

Jeep had someone who builds racks for VW buses make theirs. I'd try someplace like this - http://www.customautoracks.com/vwracks.htm to see if they would make you one.

Check out 8020's quick frame at 8020.net. Looks like it's pretty similar.

more evidence that the Wrangler may be in for a change

It's hip to be square! I've grown to like the simplicity of my 1st Gen (1989) Wrangler and it's flatter hood due to the square headlights.

    Rango.....1942 Willys MB

I was heading West on I80 today when I saw some heavily modified 4x4s heading East. Wondered if they could be the Ultimate Adventure when I saw a little green flattie drive by. Enjoy the fun Metcalf!

Help With a 2000 Cherokee 4.0: Horrible Mileage and Labored Starting...

Other things to check that could affect mileage would be coolant sensor (keeps it in open loop) and tps. A bad tps can indicate the throttle is open more than it really is. Any of these could go out of spec without throwing a code.

    Long Jeep.....chasing unicorns

As someone who learned on I-DEAS, supported users on NX, got laid off and dabbled in Solidworks, then transitioned to CATIA, you will find NX similar to Solidworks, since both are a Parasolid based modeler. Personally, I HATE CATIA. Even I-DEAS seems more intuitive to learn than CATIA. For...

    2000 miles of nervous nirvana....

Saw on your blog that you ate at Maddox. That's only 15 minutes from my house. Wish I could have caught up with you to see your flat fender. Maybe on the flip side.
