Wow! Thanks everybody for your input. I now realize that the rate at which I am learning is being exceeded by expansion of the volume of concepts I need to learn.
Hi all,
I am trying to get a better understanding of battery capacity terminology. I currently have the Renogy 100W solar suitcase and an Interstate SRM-24 with a Reserve Capacity of 140 minutes. Not that it totally matters here, but my main lode will be an Engel fridge which draws about 2.5...
Great story. Wonderful how a simple tool can prevent things from escalating into a potentially life threatening situation. I just came back from a remote area here in California. I always research the nearest repeaters/nets before I go and put that info into a folder just in case. It's no...
I have no experience with the Waeco units, so I will not comment on them. I will say that my experience with the Engel units does not match up to the results of the test. I make a habit of measuring my total amp draw when I camp with my Engel MT45, and it usually uses about 12-15 amp hours in...
Hey Folks,
After watching me pack/unpack, pack/unpack, repeat--all camping season long, my wife has green lighted a 4x4 trailer purchase! We are a family of five with kids ranging from 3 to 10, and a dog. My main issue is that my wife really loves the RTT with annex setup. She likes the kids...
One vote here for a RTT for parents and annex for three kids and the dog. RTT's may be a fad, but it does not make them a bad idea! We love our family compound.. for solo trips or when the kids (3/5/10) are interested in their own tent, we will leave the annex at home.
One vote here for the Renogy 100 watt solar panel suitcase setup. It is my first panel, so I cannot compare it to anything. That said, it completely met my needs on my initial trip. I have a 93 FZJ80 Land Cruiser and run the starter battery only (Group27). Loads while parked consist of...
thanks for the comments folks. I was hoping for a magic bullet, but it's all about compromises. In the end I would probably do it the same exact way again. Clean with water, benzoin, tegaderm, and a dressing to protect the tegaderm. I do like the idea of taping a cut finger of a latex glove...
Thanks for the ideas. I was unaware of dermabond (guess that makes me a lucky father of three), but it sounds like it requires a trip to the Dr.'s office--something I was trying to avoid. I have heard mixed results with superglue, particularly about it preventing rapid healing. Maybe Ill try...
While camping my 10yo daughter cut her finger with her pocket knife. It was about 1/2 long, longitudinal cut right on the pad of her index finger opposite the nail. It was deep enough to bleed well and show some layers, but not deep enough to warrant a trip to the hospital for stitches. It was...
Hi Andre. Probably going to take advantage of a sale or the CVT group buy tomorrow if we don't reach an arrangement. Any chance you will be able to respond tonight?
Thanks.
Scott.
Andre,
I hear you. I'd be willing to go up to 1100. But its hard for me to justify 1200 on a used one when new I can get it new for 75 more plus tax... What do you say?
Scott.
