    1x1_Speed_Craig's utility/camping trailer build_v2.0

Yes, it is an old thread. :) Well, we got the XJ to 98% completion, but my daughter struggled (and still struggles, to an extent) with having motivation and a good work ethic - not with working on the Jeep, but just in-general. After a year+ of discussions with her about this, I made the...

    1x1_Speed_Craig's utility/camping trailer build_v2.0

I ordered the bare tongue bracket directly from adventuretrailers.com. I can't recall the part number for the axle...it's been many years, and I sold the trailer 4+ years ago.

    2018 Salsa Blackborow midtail overlander

I refuse to ride the Blackborow Midtail after building up my Big Fat Dummy this past year. I'm afraid I'll want to buy one, but don't want to spend more $$$ for now. Therefore, I'll pretend it doesn't exist...for now. :sombrero: Here's my BFD:

My Jeep FC170 (Forward Control) "Patina Rod" project

Thanks! Big changes, actually. The Patina Rod has a new owner (Chris) in Texas. The last 7 months have been full of house projects...selling a house, remodeling another house (including adding a new garage), etc. Chris drove up to Michigan from Texas with his daughter, and we spent 11 1/2...

My Jeep FC170 (Forward Control) "Patina Rod" project

So, my in-laws are showing their '55 Chevy Ambulance at a car show over the 4th of July weekend, and my Mother-In-Law won a Painless Performance 25% discount as a door prize. Since she had no use for it, she offered it to me, and I graciously accepted it. I ended up ordering P/N 10220, which...

My Jeep FC170 (Forward Control) "Patina Rod" project

The military MRAP wheel idea has been "deep sixed", unfortunately. A guy named Jason from Hutchinson was a HUGE help...amazing customer service, despite that I wasn't actually a customer. The MRAP wheels, Jason told me, have higher lips than civilian wheels to support 46-53" tires. I also...

My Jeep FC170 (Forward Control) "Patina Rod" project

:sombrero: Several side projects, one of the kids graduating, planning a bathroom remodel, and purging/selling some stuff has limited my hands-on work with the Patina Rod, but I've been researching wheels & tire options a LOT. My primary struggles with using the stock-sized 17" x 6.5" Super...

FS: (6) 2005-2016 Ford F250/F350 dually wheels & tires (DRW)

These have been stored in our basement out of the weather for the last 18 months (since I bought them). I've decided to go a different route with wheels & tires for my Patina Rod project . This is a full set of six (6) steel DRW wheels & tires pulled from a 2007 F350 (ambulance). Wheel bolt...

My Jeep FC170 (Forward Control) "Patina Rod" project

Sorry, I somehow missed your posts here, jeepdreamer. To answer your question, I'll probably have A/C at some point, but haven't really given it much thought yet. Those units look pretty cool, but look like MONSTERS size-wise. I'd certainly be interested in some dimensions, if you could grab...

My Jeep FC170 (Forward Control) "Patina Rod" project

I got the 2WD 47RH transmission removed from the engine last weekend, and shortened the "Dodge frame dolly" by about 16"...easier storage, and easier to wheel around the garage. I'm underwhelmed by the original Dodge frame; I'm glad I went with the Super Duty frame, which is easily 2.5x the...

My Jeep FC170 (Forward Control) "Patina Rod" project

Hi Andy. This is the first full frame I'm painting with Extreme Chassis Black, but I've used it on axles, a trailer cargo box, etc. and have been happy with it. Ease of touch-up is a consideration for me, too. Some of the other options would be tougher in that regard.

My Jeep FC170 (Forward Control) "Patina Rod" project

Cool. I grew up in Edwardsburg, and worked in Elkhart & Goshen all through high school & college.

My Jeep FC170 (Forward Control) "Patina Rod" project

Thanks, guys! Back to the project...sort of. I revisited my FC Super Hurricane light fixture project, and ordered some Candelabra-base 40-Watt Edison bulbs, and a couple 3-socket plugs/wires with which to install them. A machinist friend currently has the head, and will be machining a LOT...

My Jeep FC170 (Forward Control) "Patina Rod" project

Thanks shortbus4x4. My regular sandblaster guy has been MIA for over a month, so my buddy Kyle bailed me out last weekend and let me use his blast cabinet to clean up several small parts, all of which have been repainted at this point. Left-to-right...47RH transmission mount, OEM Dodge...

My Jeep FC170 (Forward Control) "Patina Rod" project

Thanks, guys. I'm very happy with the way things are turning out, and it's my "normal gig" to put this kind of detail in my builds. My daughter Mira is actually no stranger to Jeep work; she has her own '97 XJ 2-door that we've been working on for several years. She's been hands-on with the...

My Jeep FC170 (Forward Control) "Patina Rod" project

This weekend brought about a task I wasn't originally horribly excited about—swapping my NP241 DHD input shaft. The stock 23-spline shaft in the 2001 transfer case was the correct spline count, but it was too short to reach the seal in the back of the 47RH auto transmission. quad4x4.com...

My Jeep FC170 (Forward Control) "Patina Rod" project

Interesting! I didn't realize that. Updates... One wouldn't typically be able to guess how much time I've spent wire wheeling (down to Dremel-sized wire wheels) my rebuilt Dodge 47RH transmission. Let's just say it spanned several days, mostly because I'm...

34"(ish) A/T tire recommendation for Super Duty DRW application (?)

Thanks Kmrtnsn. Yeah, I want taller, given the proportions of the vehicle. Also, the Rubicon tires you mentioned are Load Range C, and I'll probably need Es (I have the same tires on my 2014 JK Willys Wheeler). Around here, take-offs typically sell for high $$$ (usually rims and tires as a...

34"(ish) A/T tire recommendation for Super Duty DRW application (?)

Thanks Zeep. I'll look into the Coopers. A buddy was just considering a set of Cooper SST Pros for his XJ build (John_D on NAXJA and GreatLakes4x4).
