You asked for opinions. And this is mine. I would pass over that particular choice. Perhaps look for something early 2000s. Unless you want to pay for all the upkeep of it...might be worthwhile going a bit newer. GC is always a nice ride :D

Had same issue with my Dakota. Those trucks are good for 4wd, but not a whole lot else.
I stepped up to an F350 and wont look back. MPG is less but more capable of doing pretty much everything else.

Mom had a 97 Explorer when I was growing up. Spent many nights in the back sleeping. Havent been in too many newer ones, but they probably would work just as well.
