I agree with what was said about the grill. I was debating between the grill and the large fireplace. I went with the fireplace because it is more versatile. I can have a raging wood fire that I can then cook on once it turns into charcoal. It's heavy though so there's that.
I'm in the process of doing something similar. Have you posted this up in the "post up your storage system" section? I'd love too see how it turned out!
I've been able to lower the pricing since the Kickstarter campaign so the current pricing is actually on par with the campaign discounts. The set was also featured in the latest 2017 Overland Journal Gear issue.
Yes! They come both as a knives only option in a cardstock sleeve and as a travel kit with the three Sandvik Swedish Stainless Steel knives and two Richlite cutting boards in an aluminum case.
Overland Journal 2017 Annual Gear Guide
The Field Knife Set is featured in the Overland Journal 2017 Annual Gear Guide. Page 70 under Camp Kitchen Essentials.
If you're looking for a higher quality upgrade to the Snow Peak Knife, may I suggest the Field Knife Set. It is exclusively available at Tools for Adventure and it was recently reviewed in the latest Overland Journal 2017 Gear Issue. The set is available in two versions. *End of shameless plug...
Note to HEMA. Creating a waypoint by entering GPS coordinates should be possible on the HEMA cloud map, not just in the app. Now I have to drop the pins in the app and go back to the cloud to create the route then go back to the app to make sure it synced. A bit fuzzy, no?
I think I have it figured out. I switch to HERE satellite view and was able to create a route on HEMA CLOUD that then automatically synced to my app. Cool!
I don't know the distance but looking at the ruler on the screen it's about 2 miles. Here is a screenshot. Its in Baja. Its the turn off from Highway 1 onto a dirt road that takes you to the legendary surf spot otherwise known as The Wall (left waypoint in screenshot). The right waypoint is the...
Creating a route between two waypoints
I'm suffering from Googling fatigue trying to figure this out so I thought I'd ask for help here. I am planning a trip in Mexico. I am trying to create a route between two waypoints (created from GPS coordinates). The route between them is not a maintained...
Reluctantly I am considering selling my custom 19 foot Seaward Quest X3 Kayak. This Kayak was custom made for an expedition called "A Closer Look" which had its film debut at the Vancouver Ocean Film Festival. I have used the kayak for a couple trips to the San Juan Islands and it performs...

Defender Cargo Slider
I'm in the process of designing a cargo slider for the Defender 90/110. I plan on using heavy duty Accuride locking sliders with full extension. Here are some screenshots of the first round of CAD. If any other Defender owners are interested I may end up having a few...
Final offer for 50" Light Bar
The 50" Rigid Industries LED Light Bar is still for sale. It has been installed but never wired up or turned on. Comes with new harness. They send the wrong plug so it will have to be rewired with new plug (included). I just never got round to it and never...
Thank you.
GPS Depot does not seem to have much available for Mexico and everything is split up. Their North America map is 6 years old. The PBF file I downloaded is the very latest North America map so I will try to convert that first. Does anyone already have Mapwel and would be up for...
I have dropped the price of the 50″ bar to $650. I paid 1,140 and the light covers (5x) were another $100. This light bar has never been turned on and comes with new harness. Rigid shipped the wrong plug so it needs to rewired but the correct plug is included. A great deal for someone.
Thanks!
I'm going to try to install a map for Garmin Basecamp.
I have downloaded the North America OpenStreetMap extract (8GB) but it is a .PBF file.
Has anyone installed an OpenStreetMap on Garmin Basecamp?
Garmin MapManager doesn't seem to recognize it.
