Great report. My wife and I are really coming around to the idea of getting an all wheel drive car for easier trails.

There are youtube videos of a tour group from Moab, Tag-a-Long, running Ford Excursions on Elephant Hill Trail. I also took my '05 Tundra through there last Easter. Your suburban would fit just fine. Great Trip report. Good to see some higher end rigs getting out and used.

Roverrock wonderful pictures. You make me jealous. As I look at these pictures I start to think if I have enough free time this summer to make it back over there. It has been three of four years now since we drove engineer pass.

We should plan a Tundrabirds trip that includes Black Bear. Can you imagine the look on folks faces in Telluride when a dozen Tundras show up in Town after completing Black Bear?

It just kills me how far away this is. It just is not time or cost effective for me. However, I find myself returning to this ad regularly.

I set mine at the third notch, when I first leveled out my Tundra. With AAL in the rear, I am now at the fourth notch and level.

In the end gas mileage will be a wash. They are just to close to matter. The Tundra does not have to work as hard when all of your gear and friends/family are loaded. Less work, means better efficiency. The Tacoma works much harder when loaded to the gunwales. Overloaded and working hard...

Stick with the 15s, and run 33 X 10.5 BFGs Ats. They are a great tire and a lot cheaper that anything that fits on a 17" rim.
