    Allochris's ultimate buildup thread!!!

Good news on the truck front! Ready to fight another day. Can't really help with your questions. Some rubber valve cover gaskets were reusable. Sounds/looks like you have had a great summer. I hear the locals in Smithers are a little testy about the lack of sunshine as fall rush's up on them...

New and Improved Camper Box Build - Ver 2.0

Fantastic job Heifer Boy! Stage Twenty Three! Over here there is a DB (beer) ad, 'That man deserves a DB!' You, deserve a beer, or two! Great to see you work through all the issues and get er done. Can't wait to see it on your ute.

POD: Homebuilt foam core fiberglass skin pop-up camper build thread

Are you going to use draw runners as guides or go with (something like) polyethylene in the corners? Did you ever finalise a lifting mechanism? I'm getting way ahead for you! I still wonder with how good Sikaflex glues are I couldn't make up a light exo skeleton (I've swung to alloy) and...

Coming along great Pods. Hang in there. Like you say, past half way now. So once you have these panels done it's assemble the lower core then start on the roof section? Anyway you'll see some real progress once you put these panels together for the final time! What do you mean specifically by...

Bremach T-Rex is now in the USA

I couldn't agree more, and yet we are the only ones to comment. One of the sharper looking rigs to come along in quite awhile. I figure I could make it a hard sided pop up and be good to go! CTD, great approach angle! And how much narrower than a F550? Interesting article too.

Wondered how you were getting on Pods. Really looking good. So how many pieces are you breaking it down to before you start glassing it?

out with the old in with the new

Nice shot's Yves. Nice to be able to 'beat the crowds' as it were. You've got a great asset in that camper. Fantastic you can just 'get away'. The scope that you have 'to get away from it' in BC alone is staggering. We used to fish Ideal Lake etc east of Kelowna when I was working up there...

    Allochris's ultimate buildup thread!!!

Shame about the Babine Traverse. Smithers is slowly coming into Spring I guess. Thanks for sharing your photos! I was thinking the other day after you talked about Tuk that I had seen it before somewhere (and the Pingo's). A couple of years ago on TV down here Billy Connelly (Scottish...

    Allochris's ultimate buildup thread!!!

Yeah, it shouldn't be to hard. Remember to allow time/money for clutch work if it needs doing while you are in there. Thats one heck of a way to fill the morning in! You'd be ready for lunch after that. Thanks for the explanation. I see your photos and imagine in alot of cases there is alot of...

    Allochris's ultimate buildup thread!!!

Good that you don't have to drive another 1000k. Sounds like you have a fairly decent leak/crack going on. Can't see a diesel being worth it. That would require diff ratio changes etc would it? If you have a little time on your side you could keep an eye out on Criagslist etc. Might find...

    Allochris's ultimate buildup thread!!!

Just talked to a guy I know who has been a mechanic his entire life. We have the same motor down here too. So yes, either blown head gasket, or cracked cylinder head. Don't remove the spark plug. You can drive it, but just be gentle. There is no guarantee, yes it could get worse, but it is a...

    Allochris's ultimate buildup thread!!!

Well I don't really know what to say. I've stated my jealousy before.... By my reakoning Tuk is around 69N, I'm about 40S, so I rolled Google Earth south to see how far I'd have to go to get to 69S. Past Auckland Island at 50S, past MacQuarie Island (54S), right down to the next continent! The...

POD: Custom camper - design stage

Can't fault it. With the space you have it covers all the basics very well. Power next to fridge, propane next to heater. Option for porti potty, weight well forward etc, etc. If you made a full extension slide out pantry deal above the water tank, against the front wall, it would slide out...

Nice progress Pods! You are going to have a great camper. Note to self. Must get truck finished so I can consider a camper!!

    Allochris's ultimate buildup thread!!!

Well that should fill three weeks in! Funny thing is that the Cassier Highway at about 750k is nearly as long as each of our islands. So to rack up 8000k down here you'd be doing a lot of trips up and down! I'm guessing once you've done the Dempster Highway you'll be eyeing up a trip to Prudhoe...

POD: Custom camper - design stage

Crazy way to try and run a business! So they advertise a product but then can't deliver?? A little frustrating to say the least. As long as the space was there, and a (potentially) adjustable lower mounting point was sorted, would it be possible to continue on with the build and see what...

POD: Custom camper - design stage

I thought two or three (or four) of these http://www.pplmotorhomes.com/parts/rv-lights/motion-security-light.htm would be a good idea. Handy as you approach the vehicle at night. Unnerving for anybody who shouldn't be approaching the vehicle at night.
