    OM364LA mystery filler cap

It is just a breather, and used to see the timing marks when setting up the fuel pump, not a filler cap, basically any cap that fits will do, there is no pressure behind it, if you know someone with a 3D printer, they could make one for you out of TPU in a few minutes

Unimogadventures - Our build and travel thread

We have posted another video on our YouTube channel, this is a bit of an experiment, as this one is just the real-time footage of us driving up the Canning Stock route, not commentary or exciting bit, just what it is actually like driving across the desert. It is only 3 1/2 hour out of the 10...

Unimogadventures - Our build and travel thread

We are getting ready to go on another trip across Australia. We have been making a few short videos on our YouTube of how we are getting ready for a 5 month trip. I've replaced the old oil filter housing with the new design, the old ones are prone to cracking leading to loss of oil pressure...

MB Oil Spec OM366 LA, Fully Synthetic?

Mine has a block mounted compressor, but when I re-built the air system, I added a "wet tank" and a filter dryer into the air system. I have never had anything come out any of the air drains on the tanks, and when I swapped out one of the air tanks, I found nothing at all in the tank, not even...

MB Oil Spec OM366 LA, Fully Synthetic?

I've used a variety, when we are traveling I use the Castrol Ultra Long life oil - 100,000km between changes, and I change the oil filter every 5000km. Much easier to get rid of one litre of oil than 12 litres oil. I change it when I get back after 20-30,000km. Fully synthetic 10W40...

    No Starter - No Problem

I think the idea was to show how you could start it without another vehicle, if you were stuck by yourself.

    Lowly the Lorry. . .

I agree, a pneumatic caulking gun is a must, especially if you are using Sikaflex 252, unless you have forearms like Popeye. Get a good one, mine has lasted 10 years so far, and many sausages of Sikaflex. I got given this one from a Sika rep.

Unimogadventures - Our build and travel thread

Pipework is all sorted , and it si more or less self bleeding, with the t-piece at the highest point on the hoses going to the intercooler. With this header tank, I have over 5 litres of water/coolant in the system. The last expansion tank I 3D printed didn't work, as it created air locks in...

    Going to be Unimoged

We have out spare wheel mounted over the cab, but on a completely separate steel frame, as I didn't want to over load the roof, our 365/80R20 on beadlock wheels weight 115kg. The old steel wheel were around 100kg. The MB Body builder handbook for our model has the maximum roof load of...

Unimogadventures - Our build and travel thread

Another project done, I've fitted a new bigger water - air intercooler and heat exchanger, with a bigger fan as well. I found the old one was leaking after 70,000km /9 years, so decided it was worth fitting something a bit bigger, The old one developed a leak, and whilst the engine was...

    Unimog demand

Mine can do 100kph (60mph) 1950rpm easily, and if it were legal, 115kph ( 70mph) 2200rpm and I have one of the smaller Unimogs, a U1250, but mine has a few modifications :) There are advantages and disadvantage to a bigger ones, the common equivalent here being the U1700L38. I've seen quite...

    OM 366LA Starting current peak/sustained

My 12V reduction geared starter motor on my OM352A draws around 350A continuous if that helps. I run a Lithium starter battery as well as the house batteries . I mounted mine in the cab, to keep it warm, as it doesn't work as well in very cold temperatures, not that we have them in...

    Opinions on windows

We have the Seitz/Dometic windows in ours, and they scratch quite easily, we have external canvas covers on them to stop . The built in flyscreen can stop mozzies, but not sandflies/midgies. We replace our flyscreens with a finer mesh. We have had them for 10 years, no problems with them...
