Hey 06Burb, were you able to find the correct Ranch Hand for your 'Burb, or did you modify one from a 1500? I've had a heck of a time finding one for my wife's '05 2500 and am ready to just modify one, but I'm not sure what is involved.
Nice finds on the 8.1s, gents. I didn't see a single one when looking for a 2500 'Burb. Bought the 2005 with 6.0 and low mileage and it's working pretty darned well with the horse trailers.
265/75-16. They will rub a bit in the right conditions but that may be a function of the aftermarket wheel offset. I'd actually prefer the stock aluminum wheels on it.
I ran the Discoverer AT3 prior to the Wildpeak AT3w, though the Coopers were a slightly larger size. I was not a big fan of the AT3; I found it to be somewhat noisy and slightly squirrely on hardpack dirt/gravel roads. I find the Wildpeaks to be better in every regard.
You've just got to look long and hard to find the right one. I recently had luck looking through local/regional paper classifieds. Seems like a lot of folks just look at Craigslist, Facebook, and other online resources and forget about the old-school stuff. Well, the older folks still sell...
@rayra I forgot to mention that the mileage to hours on this one calculate at 56 mph which I was happy about. Sounds like a good deal on the Equinox; that will definitely ease the fuel bill!
Picked up a new wagon/tow rig for the wife yesterday. I was looking for something newer but this gem popped up locally and we didn't waste any time snatching it up. I don't like payments or big depreciation hits so this makes me happy.

If you're doing the lift I would go with the 235/85-16. That should give you plenty of options in tires. I've become a big fan of the Falken Wildpeak AT3w and it's made in that size. I also think the Dynapro ATM would be a good choice, though I found they tended to ball up in deeper mud and...
If you aren't extremely familiar with the 6.0, have it inspected by a knowledgeable/experienced shop prior to purchase. Not just a diesel shop but one familiar with the 6.0. It can be a great engine or an expensive one and usually that can be somewhat identified prior to purchase. A good shop...
How the heck did I not know about Alpacka Raft? Those are pretty cool and they are less than an hour away. I may have to go check them out if they allow drop-ins.
I've been running the 285/70-17 on my F-350 diesel for a few thousand miles. My experience with traction and performance mirror that of the others who have chimed in. I'll add that they do a great job towing. I've towed my 27' Camper, 3 horse trailer, and flatbed loaded with hay on multiple...
