there is a 15 page post on tacoma world on the man. trans. throw out bearing problems. alot of unhappy campers over there.
i have also heard that the at are a sealed unit. i have never personally looked at oneto confirm, but not being to change the tranny filter would be a concern for me...
+1 on the 5.3. check out some of the tahoes on here fro ideas. most everything will work on the burb. search for 02tahoeMD and get teh check book ready.
are the dually front/rear axles the big 6 lug like they appear or is there some sort of adapter bolted on to convert them from the smaller 6 lug? i've got my '86 apart right now and i believe it would look very nice with FF dually rear under it if i could figure out how to do the front. "6"...
i've been havign some trouble with my cobra 25 in the tahoe. the dimmer switch has been a bit finicky lately an dit needs to be worked on. is there a good place to send it? i couldn't find anything local to me so i'm willing to ship. any ideas? thanks
could you use the rear seat bolts with the back bolts for the front seats and make a platform that would bolt between the 2 sets of bolts then bolt your tank to the platform?
i'll vote for building what you got. i noticed that you said a couple times that you really like it. for me that always makes the truck easier to work on. i have a '00 tahoe (1500 of course) that i really like. the 5.3 seems to be a very good motor. good, smooth power and decent mileage...
i'll agree with the repos looking good. i lvoe the hubcaps with black wheels. but @ $65 a piece they are a little out of my budget for a $400 truck. i'd liek to make the $16 work without buying wheels. we'll see. thanks again
don't forget about the semifloat 14 bolt if you go 1/2 ton. bigger brakes and 9.5" ring gear and still retain 6 lug wheels to match the front. you may need a crossover u-joint for you rd-shaft will bolt up, but otherwise a bolt in swap
