67-79 F250 with modern engine swap is 15+ mpg possible?

Looking closely this appears to have a TTB front end. I think that would be an awesome setup. Take a 4x4 TTB chassis from a 90's F150, add motor of choice, finish off with desired classic body. I will be the dissenting voice here when it comes to diesels, I vote V8 and some go-fast desert...

    3rd gen 4Runner skid plates

That's a good chunk of weight, at least it's low in the chassis. As I'm more of a casual wheeler, I plan on beating up the stock skids, then replacing with another used set when they are too beat.

1993 Toyota Pickup - Desk to Glory v2.0

Damn, that is a nice truck. Makes me miss my '90, the SR5 seats were excellent. I also was quite fond of driving the 3.0, willing to rev and powerful enough for the old yotas.

Happy days, got my rebuilt coilovers back from Icon, man these are heavy! Scale shows about 21.8 lbs each, compared to 14.5 lbs for the stockers. As always with these things I hit a few snags during install. Icon mixed up the top hats left to right, luckily this was an easy fix after I...

Well brought my LCA's into the shop to have them press in the new bushings, didn't go so well. They started with the PS side and the seized bushings defeated their press in short order. Instead of giving up, whatever ape they put on it decided to get out the air chisel.... Needless...

    Financially Irresponsible 3rd Gen 4Runner

Yes, a speedster indeed. One of my (many) previous rides was a '90 pickup with the infamous 3.slow. Despite all the hate I thought it was an ok motor. Not fast, but certainly more than adequate, even in the rockies. My only complaint was the cramped engine compartment made it a chore to work on.

thanks, the cam gussets are not very fun. The hardest part is definitely the 4 that are spot welded on, as getting a good drill in there can be tight. The other 4 come off pretty quickly with a few minutes of dremel work. I unfortunately don't have a real air compressor, an air chisel would...

Here you can see how the notch allowed me to keep the ABS sensor routing in the factory location.

Now that cam tabs are all done, it's time to get on the total chaos coil bucket gussets. These definitely require some grinding to fit right, as every frame is slightly different, especially in the welds. They were quite time consuming to fit, but the real bear was prepping the frame & coil...

    WTB - Worn 3rd Gen 4Runner Rear Coils OME/PP/Downey/LC80

Well I ended up buying a new set of 99 coils, going to install these with a 1" spacer to give it a try.

    WTB - Worn 3rd Gen 4Runner Rear Coils OME/PP/Downey/LC80

Wanted - Your worn out 3rd Gen 4runner rear lift coils. I'm looking for a coil spring that will give 1-2" inches lift above stock w/ some increased load carrying as well. I have a set of good OME 890 coils, but the lift is too much (3.5"), 906 coils will not work as their uncompressed length...

If you're planing the bumper in the near future, they are quite tolerable, I ran mine for 2 years. The picture in the beginning of this thread is with the 890/icon combo in the back, stock bumper & hitch, no extra weight in the back. With a swingout the 890s should be a good fit. For a...

Got the passenger side cam tabs all welded up tonight. These have been a bit more work than I was expecting, hopefully they are worth it. As to be expected with fabrication parts, there was a bit of grinding to make them fit, but nothing crazy. Lying under my truck on the greasy floor made me...

Look what's for sale next to my office...

Between the weight and tires, I just can't see that thing being even remotely reliable. 4 link and axle out of a 4runner? A lot of stuff on that has me scratching my head. Then again, I guess it made to to the south pole, so what do I know?

    Experienced Overlanders...Customs Suspension Parts Reliability?

Also, Nice looking 3rd gen! Is that on stock suspension now? They make a great platform to build on, and with a few suspension tweaks are really fun in the dirt.

    Experienced Overlanders...Customs Suspension Parts Reliability?

I think it depends on how custom, and how/where the vehicle will be driven. For example, a fancy replacement coilover (fox, icon, king, ect.) may not last as long as an OE or OME unit, but should get you a solid 50k miles between service intervals. If it does fail (leaking seals most likely)...

Sorry for the slow progress. I finally took my PE exam two weeks ago so no more studying! I had to help the roommate install an OME lift on his taco last weekend, but got back at it yesterday and today. With the help of the grinder, dremel, sawzall, hammer, chisel, torch, blood, sweat, and...
