    Redarc vs Ctek

Well, I think after all the advise and the article link, I'll give my Surepower a try. I have it, can't hurt to give it a shot and I'll hook the MPPT controller and panel up too so when I'm stopped, I can deploy the solar. I'll just turn the stop/start off. If it doesn't work, it was worth a...

Post pictures of your Land Rover.

From no LR's for over a year to two D1's in the last four months. Picked this up yesterday for less than the cost of the four brand new Michelin LTX tires on it. Was bought to supply some parts for my 98 LSE but it's in really good condition frame and body wise except one alpine window rust and...

    Wrecked

Pull some comparison ads up for the insurance company showing what 300tdi's sell for. I had a 1997 D1 Diesel that was rear ended. They were going to write it off until I told them it was a "rare" diesel and worth more. They ended up paying out a $6700 claim. If you like it, I'd settle, buy it...

    Redarc vs Ctek

Thanks guys. I will read through the article mentioned above today. While I was out driving yesterday, I put the battery voltage screen up on the dash. It runs at 14.4 when driving. When I stop, it starts to drop and when the start/stop turns the engine off, it drops even more and goes down to...

    Redarc vs Ctek

Yes, I was aware of the recall, thanks, mine fell outside the serial #'s recalled. That said, I am looking at moving to the Redarc BCDC1225D or the C-Tek D250SA on the Jeep (all in one with solar). If I understand what you are saying, I really don't need to add the wire to the ignition and could...

    Redarc vs Ctek

Not wanting to hijack this thread but I too am looking at either the Redarc BCDC1225D or the C-Tek D250SA to charge a second battery, a marine deep cell, that will be used pretty much exclusively for powering an ARB fridge and charging camera batteries. I have the battery already and in my...

    Cherokee Trailhawk

Yes, I’ve had it for just over a year now. However, missed my Land Rover so I also now have a 1998 Discovery too.

    Call me crazy...1994 Disco 1

The ABS light can be caused by a speed sensor and can also cause the truck to feel like the brakes are not engaging, and often they are not, until as you say, you pump it a couple times. The first time this happened to me was quite scary ? You can go under the hood and pull the main ABS fuse...

    Call me crazy...1994 Disco 1

Far from crazy. My first D1 was a 1995 5sp, a P38 and D2 in between, then a 97 D1 300Tdi followed by a 2007 LR3. When I sold it, I missed having a LR but in particular a D1. So, found this 98 D1 LSE in Saskatchewan and had it shipped to Ontario. It won't see the winter's salty roads here as...

Please talk me out of my irrational desire for a Disco

The D1 was my first and favorite of all the LR's I've owned - RRC, P38, LR3, D2 - and this is the third one coming into my possession after my 95 5-speed and a 97 300 TDi imported from Japan. After I sold my LR3 last December and bought a Cherokee Trailhawk, I did miss having a LR. Most here in...

    1997 Range Rover?

Pretty much what's been said above. I had a 97 with a 4.0 Gems engine. It was good and returned relatively good fuel economy. From what I understand there were less issues with the Gems than the Bosch engines and the 4.0 was less likely to have head gasket issues than the 4.6. My air suspension...

The DiscoDavis Discovery 1 Mayhem Thread

My first D1 was 95 5-speed. Was great until downshifting one night - BAM - no fifth gear. As I was working at an independent LR shop at the time and we had an almost new ZF auto box there, we converted it to auto. Left the ECU for the manual in and it actually seemed to get a wee bit better...

Well after being without a Rover since last December when I sold the LR3 and bought a Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk, there's a Disco back in the family. 1998 LSE. It's in very good condition and won't be seeing any Ontario winters and all our road salt. Planning to hold onto this one for a long time.

KL Cherokee trailhawk owners, chime in?

Nothing too serious yet. I've been very busy at work and time off has been out hiking. The Thule racks are on, a bit noisy though, the ARB fridge is temporarily mounted in the cargo area with solar or A/C power. I'm planning to remove the single rear seat and build a platform for the fridge...

Canadian mapping App. BRMB...WORTH THE MONEY!

Thought I had sent a reply to this while on vacation but it seems it didn't go through. the BRMB app gives a bit more info on the PIO's. For instance, Gaia may say XYZ trail is 18 km long, the BMRM app will dig down further, ie: XYZ trail has three loops 8k, 13k and 18k traveling through pine...

Canadian mapping App. BRMB...WORTH THE MONEY!

Gaia is just the maps, you need BRMB products for the extras. The Navigator is great because it allows you to download sections of maps for use when WIFI and cellular are not available, and it's quite reasonably priced. The best though are the maps on a chip for a Garmin GPS. Everything is on...

Anyone use a genny along with solar?

I've recently added a 2200w Briggs and Stratton portable generator to my teardrop to help top up batteries if solar starts to lag. It was on sale up here in Canada for $499 from $799 and is very quiet, I'd say pretty much the same as a Honda.
