I put a Dexter 3500lb on mine with 235/75/15 tires. A couple of weeks ago it was hauling 3/4 of a cord of Manzanita Firewood. No issues what-so-ever.
I am liking the idea of mating the two trailers, would really beef this trailer up. I will be watching to see how you do and how it turns out.
I have 190K on my 04 CC Sierra. Less than 2.5k in repairs. I have les Schwab guaranteed for life brakes all the way around on it now. Second set of fronts lasted almost 80k, on my second set of front rotors now with the Les Schwab set in under 40k (not impressed).
We are looking to...
I run an 03 Excursion 7.3 PSD at work. Love it ... Great truck and we put it through a lot of abuse. Just a couple of weeks ago it was an an emergency scene with the motor running for 6 hours. However, if I could buy a new Suburban with a diesel, I would have that. I think the Suburban rides...
That is what I used on my last trip ... Except for a couple of green gut bugs, it all came off. Sometimes lots ofwash fluid had to be used but it came off.
I mimic what BlueCruiser said.
I would also add the Jumpingjqck/Lifetime tent trailer to your search. We have a lifetime with our family of five and it is comfortable for us. Had to change wheels and axles but great little trailer.
Folks
I have an 03 Excursion at work that is an emergency mobile Command Post/Emergency Operation Center. It can get deployed to a site for as little as a couple of hours and as long as a month. Currently we have a tent that requires a blower (lots of electrical load) and the tent foot print...

I see that you bought the one out of Texas. Congrats. You stated that you will not be using the plates/bowls. Would you be interesting in selling those off? My family has 5 of us and all the ones I have seem only have 4 each of everything.
I live in Pleasant Hill, CA 94523 if you...
You will like the Marauder. Awesome car but defiantly not an expedition vehicle. I have an 03 in a Dark Pearl Blue. And yes it hauls down a freeway something fierce.
I have almost 20K on the current set and they still have most of the little new tire twigs on them. They have been in snow, mid, rock, gravel, water and even pavement.
I like then and will continue to run them. No balance issues or road noise for me.
They are great trucks once you get the maintenance sorts out.
I have 04 , 5.3 Sierra Crew Z71. I bought her 7 years ago with 50k on the clock. Turned 185k returning from Montanna a couple if weeks ago.
I replaced a water pump, knock sensors, Ujoint and some relay which controlled the wife...
I had very similar issues with my trailer. I ended up finding a small shop and said put these LT tires on these rims. They 'knew' it was for a trailer, but did it anyways. They gave me the whole song and dance about ST vs LT; but I shared with them that the speed rating was my biggest issue...
Very nice. I like it. I have one as well, running littl 235/75/15 wranglers.
Questions:
1. How did you mount your spare tire? Ease of removal when you get to camp?
2. Solar. How did you set it up on the trailer? I want to add it to mine as well.
We have towed this ~20k mile now...
