I've never failed to get unstuck with a come along hi lift and a shovel, but I've had it take a couple days though. I think the warn ti series winches are by far the best ones I've tried. The 16.5ti I have on my 90 f350 diesel is truly impressive. Single line pulls are always reasonable (so...
I do run a lil buddy overnight in my popup camper (fwc grandby). With it on its lowest setting I leave the roof vent open and the turnbuckle access hatch open giving lots of ventilation draw. Camper has appropriate alarms/ detectors which never sound off. Even in the 20's even low makes it...
If you mean the astro van one look under 4wd camper vans here on the portal. There is a thread started by ihatemybike called tiger hunting that has people chiming in on finds as well as all the cl ads.
Yea the price is way up there but if its as good as it sounds it will take the place of both the vehicle one and a hand held, so the price could be about right. Another thing that Im excited about is the montanas ability to take both a rechargable lith batt or regular AA. I hope you remember...
I am in exactly the same spot you are in. I have a nuvi 160 that does nothing but get me lost off road and a 60 that is impossible to see while driving. Im eager to hear how the 24k maps work on the nuvi series. Yesterday after an hour of tech support on the phone with garmin the verdict from...
Does your truck have stock posi? I like posi rear and arb front the best. If you already have 4:10s you would already be ok w/ 37s. How bout arb front, an air tank and on board air accessories to go w/ your compressor, a high quality set of winch rigging and a burly come along. If you have...
I think a pop up like a fwc on a regular fullsize truck bed is about as stable as it gets for that kind of comparison. Assuming you build it with all the heavy stuff down low there is little weight up high. The van would be way better than a hard side camper though. Generally a flatbed will...
Thanks for the responses. I probably dont need custom ones after seeing the ones sierra 4x4 has. Seems like this would be helpfull for lots on this site so mabe keep um coming.
Anyone found a good place to get extra large steel fenders? I put 33x12.5 mudders on my utility trailer and am having trouble finding the appropriate size fenders. Do you guys always just make them? Any leads will be appreciated thanks
Ya, +1 on that. Thats probably not what you wanted to hear. Otherwise wheel spacers or rims with different backspacing. I think the price of wheel spacers is about the same as cheap rims. Having wheels and tires you can also use on the jeep is all kinds of better. Even if they dont match...
Ya you're probably right. Assuming you drive alot of dirt, do you have any mileage estimates you get between having to change out those front end components?
It just struck me that using the 4-5" kit with a 1" body lift instead of a 2" might be a little better.Just a thought. You could still get to 4" and fit 31s using the rest of the kit im pretty sure. Never liked body lifts. I bet gerald at ov would accomodate that if you wanted.
I suspect the most drastic accelerator of front end wear will be how much faster youll drive the dirt with the new set up. you have way less incentive to avoid or slow down for rough patches:smiley_drive:. lifted astros are alot of fun
Actually Ive lifted alot of vehicles and almost every time I have brought them down alittle afterwards. This is expedition portal where most of the real expeditioners will say as little lift as necessary. It depends on what you need. If you arent pinching pennies the kit will give You...
Sorry I didn't mean to call names. I guess my rivets had already been drilled out cuz thats all it took for mine. Glad someones monitoring these posts for bs, thanks
Well I used most of the kit. I havent used the reindexed keys yet because I like the way it handles with the torsions cranked all the way. Mabe its cause Im used to big diesel trucks but it feels better stiffer to me. With the body lift it still has clears the 245 70 r16 (approx 30x9.50) and...
Ive been screwing around with my 03 awd alot lately and I can give you where Im at so far. I also needed tires immediately and had no lift or kit and knew I had to have one so I pinned the torsion bars and got 30x 9.50s on there with a little sawzalling. When I realized how much better I...
