I know of someone who has 1 on his 80 and he says he's more than happy with it after using it to rescue stuck people.
Cant beat that price with the Costco return policy.
This has been attempted and discussed on IH8MUD regarding making the fulltime 4x4 80 series part time 2WD.
The results seem to be no improvement in mileage for those who have tried.
The gears however will help you, especially with driving up all the hills out here.
By help though, you'll be...
I appreciate the responses.
The 212 looks like the way to go for the MIG unit, I'll try to negotiate the 212 instead of the 180 into the deal since it has better thickness specs and twice the duty cycle.
See, my thinking so far is that anything I buy is going to be expensive (comparing prices and specs at the store).
I'd prefer to get something that can do everything if I want to expand, especially since I'm seriously considering getting into metal fab for offroad bumpers and stuff not just...
Any input on the difference between the Kohler and Subaru engine options available in the welder?
They seem to be the same price with the Kohler having an extra 1hp and 500 watts of peak power.
I've been browsing around trying to gather as much info as possible regarding welders and their capabilities lately.
It seems most people for home garage or small shop use just have some of the smaller stick or mig machines.
From what I gather with the Bobcat and Trailblazer type units, they...
This is actually a very stout bumper once setup.
I have a few guys from the Copper State Cruisers off IH8MUD who have these on their 80s and they said they've dropped down and bashed the bumpers on rock ledges with no effect to the bumper.
The spindles are solid units and the latch holds...
I'm sure I'll have to beef up the tire carrier a bit with some thicker gussets. I'll see how its going to work with the supplied setup and modify it as needed from there after a test fit.
It is 4x4labs. I'm sure I'll end up modifying all sorts of crazy stuff on it.
I should have fun mounting my 39" spare...since I think this is a 35 in the picture on this 80:
The MV50 I have gets the job done, it just by the time I am finishing my first tire, someone has aired up all 4 of their 33s with a powertank and they are putting it all away.
Anyone know who has the best deal on a 20lb powertank setup?
They ship empty, right?
I got the ok to pickup a powertank for my birthday present "from" my girlfriend.
What size tank or setup would be recommended for my 39" tires?
I run them at 25psi on road, and 10psi offroad.
How long could I expect the tank to last, (ie. number of fillups?)
Well you asked. It seems like an insane price. I wish you the best of luck in getting it - but for a 93 80 with the mods listed it seems about 8-10k high.
I don't doubt that the truck is in excellent shape, but its not like someone is getting an 80 with these brand new shiny mods still in...
