Why does no one use a high truck shell?

The owner had a good tip. He said the straight sides looked funny on the short beds. Because, it was just as wide as it was long. The tapered sides made it look cleaner. I didn't like their roof racks. They bolted on and really stuck up. One reason I wanted to look at the Caravan...

    Desert Turtle - M1010 Build

Have you measured the frame widths? I remember that year RAM had wide 38" frame and the Chev/Ford had 34".

Why does no one use a high truck shell?

I've got a Caravan Journey on order. Stopped by in Reno to check them out first. All steel, double doors out back, 'Windoors' on the side that swing up and have sliders in them also. Very tough one piece with 5 cross ribs. Should be able to hold a 350# boat on a roof rack. The bed on my new...

2021 Ford F250 Tremor Adventure Rig

Technical question for Brent or other Tremor owners: is the front axle a true limited slip with clutches? Or, is it an open diff with electronic braking to mimic limited slip? Not much info on line and lots of dufoid y-tubes that give no info. A friend just ordered a Tremor, so I was curious.

Ram 3500 High Output Cummins Build on 37's

I'm surprised you got a 3500 short bed. In April I was told RAM wasn't making any more for 2021. I thought that I wanted the full 1075 ft/lbs of torque, but ended up with the weak 875 ft/lb engine. I managed to get a 2021 RAM 2500 CCSB after waiting 4 month. This will basically replace my...

    Improving factory seats

When my 2001 Dodge seat started to sag, I put a piece of indoor/outdoor carpet scrap between the seat cushion and the supporting wires underneath. The wires were thin and had sunk into the foam. The made the seat like new again. Nothing to disassemble, just slid the carpet in.

Traverse of the Blue Mountains in Oregon.

Skyline road and the loop over to Troy is on my list now. Very nice write-up. Sorry I didn't get to talk much at Enterprise. Hopefully next year, it will be earlier and hopefully cooler. DZ

    Full Size Truck Toppers/Camper Shells

With the trailer I'd think you would want to remove the tailgate and get double doors like on the commercial caps.

How much of the Carli kit did you get? Control arms? Sway bar? Rear springs? How was the ride after changes? I don't need the carry capacity anymore, but still need a lot more than a 1/2T for towing. So, the 2500 with full coil springs and full linkage should be a huge improvement over the...

It ended up closer than I designed, but never touched. Fuel mileage didn't change, but the wind noise was greatly reduced. The campers gone, truck going in a few weeks. Jeep gone. Heading for a new combination. 2021 RAM 2500 CC short bed, Carli pintop, 35" tires, Carivan Journey canopy...

Flatbeds on RAM's don't have to be high. It is mostly for looks. This is my install of a ProTech flatbed. I wanted it low a possible for the ATC camper. There is plenty of clearance for the 34" tires.

What shocks will fit my FG437?

If you dig into Rancho Shocks website you'll find a chart of shock lengths and end configs. There's even a shock chart for custom builds. Just measure up your shocks and find the matching one.

    Fluid Recommendations

Shifting in/out of high-low can hang up if you happen to be turning a corner or one wheel is digging. This is because the front can be turning faster than the rear and it will bind. If it hangs, try backing up a few feet with the steering slight turned.

Frame flex and type and kind of spring?

Cummins 6.7 HO engine - 1075 ft/lbs of torque. Grunt, grunt, grrr.

Frame flex and type and kind of spring?

I've used the Rancho 9000's on three Dodge/RAMs. Very good shocks for that app. The loaded weight of these trucks can vary by 40% so having variable damping really helps with control. The longest mileage was 180k miles and they were not worn out. Max weight on that truck was only 12k lbs...

    Are these things normal?

Could this be a simple as a clogged/bad air filter? I'm assuming you've checked it. Without a turbo, this engine will be starved for air at higher rpm's anyway. I wonder if it has a pump from a turbo motor? That would have a fuel curve that would put out a lot more at higher rpm's. Probably...
