Toyo makes "E" rated offroad tires - see attached.
Were the earlier Earthroamers lighter? I was told the current version is 16Klb wet - too much with gear for Wranglers.
Reg - MH
I finally got my plates/reg in the mail. My dealer was successful in registering the Fuso as a motor home - fees where $270. If I ever get stopped, hopefully the officer will be understanding that it's a motorhome in process.
By the way, I have come across a 1995-2000 FG service...
tanks
Bruce,
Thanks for all the good information. I got my Fusos mixed up - it was Carl Hunter that slid his tank forward.
I am very interested in doing this, so I will attempt to contact Carl for this information.
?
Why would the optimum twist be at the step-up. The modulus is highest at the step-up.
My question was about the location of the axis of rotation of the twist - see attached. If the 3pt pivot point is not on this axis then it will have a laterial component (sideways movement) when the frame...
Vertical location of pivot point on 3PT subframe
Has anyone thought about the vertical location of the pivot point in relation to the twisting frame?
I would assume when the frame twists the axis of that rotation is centered between the frame rails, and this location would be the ideal...
Aluminum
The key is to prevent a metal pathway from outside to the inside, steel or aluminum (like some said).
I am designing my entire camper and subframe structure with aluminum. I'm only focusing on the subframe right now, but I've been working out the thermal insulation issues of the...
You Mog guys are preaching to the choir - I'm on board with the properly designed 3-pt system.
My point is that a properly designed 3-pt system is not necessarily adequate for a weight bearing flatbed and the bed will respond significantly to inertial or gravitational loads depending on the...
Rob, I think that would be difficult on the Fuso because the cab tilts on a rigid pivot. That would be a nice improvement though. It's impossible for me to evaluate the ride of the FG right now, because I have nothing on the chassis yet - very harsh ride.
Thanks for the response Tom.
I'm affraid I am not clearly communicating my ideas - sorry for that.
The airbags I'm describing are only supplemental, distributing the load more evenly - not like a truck air spring sys.
The engine mounts I am referring to are rated up to 4500lbs (EACH)...
Charlie, I hear what you are saying, but what I am proposing is no more a suspension than an engine mount is a suspension. An engine mount is more a shock absorber/vibration mount.
Anyhow, what I am designing is a 3-point system in which the three points are fail safe rubber engine mounts...
Tom, I'm glad to hear your rig is stable.
So, in the simplest analysis, a 4500lb camper will be more stable than a 8000lb camper. The 8000lb camper will need additional suspension work and camper damping.
My ever-evolving plans calls for two outside rubber engine mounts to go as close to...
A question for those of you that have torsion-free sub-frames, whether 3-point or 4-point.
I understand the idea that the truck frame twists independently of the camper frame on uneven ground. But I was wondering if there is an affect on the stability of the camper while driving on the road...
Engine Access
I don't know how Warrior accesses their engine, but the tilt cab is one of the best features of the FG. I am still committed to a pass-through cab, which is complicated by the tilt, but I wouldn't design-out the tilt feature for nothin'.
Chucaro, how far are you from Warrior -...
