    Not much of an Expo

Wife and I took the new Jeep on a road trip yesterday, Still not setup for over nighting, so it was an out and back. We explored a part of our state that we had never seen before, and got some ideas for some future expos. We went to the annual Pie Festival in Pie Town New Mexico!

    Trying to decide

I really learned a lot from this thread, I learned I don't know crap about packing, despite all of the deployments I have gone on. I am hoping to overcome some of my medical issues to get further from the Jeep, but I'm happy I have a Jeep to take me further.

    Trying to decide

I couldn't pass up the deal, the bonus is, my 20 year old and 18 year old daughters want to do some weekend Jeep exploring, so in about 2 hours I will be taking delivery of a 2015 JKUR, I will miss my old JK, but look forward to many new adventures with the new Jeep, hope to build the Expo...

    Trying to decide

Omar, wow! That is some serious packing right there. I appreciate all of the inputs, not an easy decision, but one that will be made today! That is a nice setup as well Swift, a solid check in the don't buy column.

    Trying to decide

Thanks for the replies. Suffering with some mobility issues, I don't hike very far anymore, I just want to get away. I think it will mostly be me going solo, maybe my wife on occasion. I have been going over my list of wants Vs needs, at 47 they have changed, not drastically, but they have...

    Trying to decide

I am really serious about doing some NM back road exploring next year, beyond the 100 mile circle I usually inhabit. I have a 2 dr Wrangler, it will be paid off soon, but I am looking at a 4 dr just for the cargo space. Not sure if I can swing another Rubicon, which I don't like, as my lockers...

    2 Dr JK upgrades

Depending on which gear ratio you have, I wouldn't go too big on the tire size. Great looking Jeep, a little over a week ago, I put a 2" Rancho Sport Lift on mine because I blew a rear shock, and the kit came with 4 new shocks. I will keep an eye on your progress. I will say, if you drive in...

    2 Door Expedition Wranglers?

I like it, love the Kubota write up.

    2 Door Expedition Wranglers?

The trailer is nice, in that you can unhook if you want to do some local exploring. Aside from the classic Jeep look, I like the 2dr for it's ability to get out of tight spots.

    2 Door Expedition Wranglers?

I definitely like the idea of being able to retreat inside the Jeep in the event the weather takes a really bad turn. The roof tent would certainly work here in the Desert Southwest, sleeping up off of the hot ground has a certain appeal.

    2 Door Expedition Wranglers?

I wish they had continued the LJ and made an LK, my children are grown, hardly ever use the back seat, the extra room without the doors would have been welcomed. I am happy to see that there are others out there doing the 2dr expedition thing, I am slowly getting there.

    2 Door Expedition Wranglers?

I understand about the wanting to sleep inside the vehicle, my 2002 Dodge Diesel was good for that while it had a topper. I do understand why the 4dr are much more popular in this realm, I just really prefer the classic look of my 2dr, my Dodge makes much more sense as an expedition vehicle...

    2 Door Expedition Wranglers?

It would seem that the vast majority of Wrangler Expedition vehicles I see are of the 4dr variety, anyone else seeing the world in a 2dr?

    Downsizing To A Jeep......

I have to wait until November 23! I try to get up in the hills and scout every weekend. I do have an archery deer tag as well, that opens 1 September.

    Downsizing To A Jeep......

With the stock Rubicon tires, I have no issues driving at 9500-10500' with an automatic and stock 4.10 gears. I'm up there almost every weekend looking for elk.

    Downsizing To A Jeep......

Lucky for most of the salesman they do sell themselves. I appreciate the few who do know what a Jeep is about.

    Downsizing To A Jeep......

We weren't ever not friends, just a difference of opinion. I have been driving Jeeps since 1976, and while I like some of my creature comforts, I often times feel a Jeep isn't really a Jeep any longer. Now my '02 Dodge Diesel is a truck for sure. To each his own, I guess my point is, not...

    Downsizing To A Jeep......

Will not argue the new automatic transmission is much better, the extra gear does help. I am also sure the new engine will prove to be a winner over the long haul, but to call the 3.8 unreliable was laughable. For a Jeep, gears are where it is, my old Willys CJ-5 had 5.38s in the diffs and it...
