When I lived in SoCal, we tried to buy one. The guy at the dealership laughed at us. We bought a Colorado instead. They had to ship it in from New Mexico as it was the closest one. Those kinds of trucks are not even stocked on the west coast. Still super happy with the Colorado.
Common issue with all LED's. Chip size is the main issue, the larger the chip the harder it is to focus it into something useable.
Things to look for in an LED light, chip size, what they actually drive the LED's at and heat disapation.
As far as I know, there is only 1 company making lights...
So would I, but as of now I'm going AGM for everything. Weight isn't an issue but simplicity is. I like being able to charge everything from the engine without any fancy converters involved.
I'm still wondering how some of the roll-able panels would fare sowed to an awning. I heard rumors of such an awning at one of the expo's but never saw any photos.
1" is about all most lasers will do. I have cut 4" with a WJ. Even with a tilting head kerf was an issue. They are just not that consistent. In material that thick the hardness varies and you can tell by the cut. Laser don't care how hard it is.
Cut quality is dependent on cutting speed. Getting a good cut out of a WJ is not quick. Price is reflected in cut quality. For a laser like cut, it will not be cheaper than a laser.
A buddy of mine has a crewcab with the 8.1 in it. He put a Vortec on it with a mild tune and picked up about 1.5MPG all around. Due to his driving style, it was a pretty impressive gain.
A different top mount might be better. Bottom looks like it gets real close to the shock on full bump. I don't think a taller bag will make that much difference. A larger diameter bag yes.
Tie rods were one of the first things to get swapped out on the chase trucks we used. Big tires and any off road would pop them apart. Fortunately, there are several aftermarket solutions.
Back in the day, a lot of my dezert buddies had Rangers/Exploders. We got real good and shifting the T-case with a 3/8 ratchet and extension. The electric motors on them were crap. On par with their power window motors which they bore a striking resemblance to.
LS swaps are pretty easy and strait forward. It would still be easier to register it in another state that to run it through the ref. Even after you get it passed the ref, getting it smogged every 2 years will be a hassle. A lot of shops will not even look a swapped vehicles.
Just go through the check point in Gurrero Negro, they will hose the bottom side down with the good stuff. As far as shipping, it will either be Ensanada of La Paz. Those are the only 2 ports to take container ships that I know of.
The AC in our work van takes a little while to catch up when you first get in it. After it cools down it works quite well. We are contemplating a blanket behind the seats. A partition wall is a no go.
I was thinking that also. Most alternators are over driven at 4 or 5-1. I think the one on my 6BT is spinning about 2600 at idle. With the giant power robbing mechanical fan blowing on it, I doubt the alternator ever gets that hot.
