What cameras were used to take the video? Go Pro?
From the many different mounting angles, I was guessing Go Pro.
The camera did really well in the low light shots, and as expected had more of a challenge when their was a high dynamic range shot with a dark foreground and a bright sky...
Without my AC compressor in the summer time in Phoenix, I would be really hot. Inside the car it sometimes gets to 120 degrees. On the other hand, I would have an air gun from the compressor that I could direct on myself to keep cool.
I have never been anywhere that I have seen one. I would like to see one up close and personal. Does it run off its own belt, or do you use a bigger serpentine belt?
It's has a very different shape from other compressors. It's sort of a square that is not very thick. But it is heavy. You just have to look at your available space to see if it will work for you.
If you are going to do WD 40 Tire Inflation/Reseating The Bead, you need some essential safety gear that includes:
Kevlar vest.
Helmet.
Safety glasses.
Hockey Face Mask.
Inflable splints for broken limbs.
1 Can of WD-40
I don't know that there is a specific CFM capacity to do the job. It helps to have a ratchet strap compressing the circumference of the tire. I do know that a single ARB compressor could not do the job on a sand tire in the Empty Quarter of Arabia. Perhaps there is someone out there who has...
I am impressed by the fabricating abilities of those who made their own bumpers in this thread. It inspires me to make some of my own stuff. Awesome work!
The D90 cleans up great.
When we lived in Arabia, we turned our trucks over to a garage that cleaned the inside and the outside of the vehicle after each trail run. Four workers would get on the job, and within an hour the Defender was detailed inside and out. They used air compressors and...
The compressor comes with a harness that is about six feet long, and the wires to the compressors with inline 40 amp fuses are included in the harness kit. It is truly a plug and play installation. I think the wire was 6 gauge in the harness. The longer the run, the bigger the voltage drop...
Awesome dust photos. If you turn on a fan in your vehicle, you can make your own dust storm.
I like to get the dust out of the vehicle so that photographic gear doesn't have to fight the dust. Also, I don't like breathing the stuff in, especially in a place like the valley in Phoenix where...
One of the cheap units will do the job, but it will take a long time, and the compressor will not last very long. It will wear out because it is not designed for the duty cycle that you have in frequent expeditionary travel. Our single ARB units lasted two years when we pumped our tires nearly...
If you use a compressor a great deal, then having a powerful compressor with a 100% duty cycle is not a luxury. If it is used occasionally, then it may not be worth the expense. Since we did sand nearly every week end in Arabia, we needed a compressor that was up to the task.
Even in a place...
I always used the portable ARB units before, and it's nice to be able to move the compressor from vehicle to vehicle. I didn't like the space taken up by the compressor box from ARB. It was a large box housing the compressor, and storage among the expeditionary gear was at a premium.
I was...
According to the promotional literature it draws 28 Amps no load, and 51 Amps under load.

Thanks for the link to the great article on the air conditioning compressors for use as a source of air off-road...
Drive the H1 when you want the diesel feel, and keep the classic untouched for that awesome gas feel. I loved my gas Defenders in Arabia in the sand dunes. The 3.9 liter V8 blew me away offroad. Mileage didn't matter in Arabia because gas was cheap.
I have to admit I love driving my 6.5 liter...
I installed the switch in a box that had enough room for additional switches just in case I decided to install front and rear lockers.
This is the location where I installed the compressors under the fridge/freezer. I countersunk four bolts to mount the compressor upside down to maximize...
The best compressor for expeditionary travel is the one that works best for you. There are many compressors from which to choose, and your needs are unique to your vehicle and your style of travel.
If you are going to drive around the world, it is a good idea to get a compressor that has parts...
It sounds like you have a straightforward and reliable system. I like things that I can understand, because I can fix things in expeditionary mode if I understand how everything works. I try not to intall any systems that I cannot fix or do without if the system doesn't work out as planned/hoped.
