PART II
We drove pretty much all day and ran some really cool trails at night. One led down to a creek that was definitely not passable and then another that took us through a path that would require quite a bit of clearing which was more work than I was willing to put in at 11p. I think Alex...
Part I
Late last December I had planned a winter camping trip to the Manistee National Forest in the lower peninsula of Michigan. The day I was going to leave, they got hit with 3" of ice from a nasty storm and it wasn't much better in Indiana where I live. I like winter camping but multiple...
I'm in the same looking at suspension upgrades boat. I threw a hell bent steel leveling kit and a slightly taller rear block to get some height on my new 2016. I dumped all my available fun money on tires and skid plates (as well as some other stuff) so I didn't have enough left to do the final...
That's a good looking truck! So far I'm super happy with going to the F-150. Only downside I've found is breakover compared to the taco. I've got a trip planned for next April to Canyonlands and plan on doing the white rim trail so that's awesome. Did you run anything else? We were...
Not exactly build related but I got her out to play a little bit at a local off road park. Also ran some wooded trails and did some minor rock climbing. I did have one small mod: crunched the bottom of my passenger side door :yikes:
I was wanting to find some comparison between the new model year and older gens but I couldn't seem to find reliable ground clearance or approach/breakover/departure angle for your 2003. The only #s I could find for ground clearance I didn't really trust but they were lower than the new ones...
I think your best bet is a tonneau cover for dry storage unless you need a lot of it and then a camper shell is your best bet though they are a pain to remove if you need an open bed. You could also use a cargo dry bag if you aren't worried about security.
The front ends do sit low stock...
Before & after shots of the leveling kit. Helped get the nose off the ground. Plan is to put either a Fox or Boss kit on next year but I needed some extra clearance in the meantime and between everything else I've added to this brand new truck, I couldn't swing that right now.
I ordered the steel plates which came with a front engine skid, transmission, and t-case. I ordered these because the stock FX4 skids leave quite a bit exposed underneath. If the stock skids covered the intercooler on my truck, I probably would have just ordered the transmission skid to fill...
Awesome! Glad you finally got to make the trip. Life sure can be complicated. Your pictures are beautiful. Where were those ruins/structures? A friend and I are planning a trip to Canyonlands and Moab early next year.
Installed the jerry can mount. Full RCI skids should arrive today as well. Level kit and skids going on tomorrow. Maybe finish my hi lift mount as well...and need to change oil. A lot of work to do this weekend.
My recent move to e range 285s seems to have netted me about .5 or 1mpg loss at most. I have lost exactly 1 mpg accoring to the dash but if I account for the inaccuracy due to increased tire size, it would be about .5mpg. I hope that's all I lose but even 2 mpg isn't bad for 33s. I have the...
