Not sure why they would discharge so quickly in moderately cold temps but they definitely won’t charge in the temp you describe. If they don’t have internal heaters, then wake them up after heating them up to high 40’s at least. My Lion LiFePOs have to be woken up after a cold temp shutdown by...
If you are in to DIY for less money, then I hope this can help.
I bought one of these:
Inkbird Dual Stage DV 12V Digital Temperature Controller Fahrenheit Thermostat Heating and Cooling for Homebrewing Brew Fermenter Fridge Incubator Greenhouse
to control the temp of a five battery LiFePo...
@CowboyKyle for the added weight of the poptop roof a/c unit, what lifting force to you recommend for the gas springs/struts? I'm in the process of replacing mine and would like to future-proof it in case one day I decide to upgrade to your kit and a rooftop 12v a/c unit. Thank you, Rob
Due to an injury to my shoulder and back, I'm thinking of welding up this mod to assist in raising the poptop.
I'm also thinking of replacing the four gas springs with a slightly higher force. The stock units are 400N. Does anyone have an idea how much higher each strut can go before it...
We just returned from a month on the road to Baja and back from Oregon. For the most part, the stock solar panel array kept up with our energy use except when we set one side of the outside Snowmaster cooler to 31 deg. and the other side and the inside fridge to 42 deg. AND the panels didn't...
I've gleaned a lot of good information from this thread and ordered a Dual Electronics XGPS150A. I recently acquired a 1 yo iPad Mini that had cellular service (it does not anymore). I've driven around with the built-in GPS capability and it seems to work well enough. Would I miss not having...
BoonieGoonie, I'm just now seeing the second part of your questions about the DC-DC charger. I installed a Renogy 40 amp unit in the back driver's side corner storage area next to the batteries. With dedicated 4 gauge wires going all the way to the truck battery, via Andersons plugs at the...
Thought I'd post this for future reference for anyone looking for a cover for their UEV-14. Based on a post in the OBI Dweller thread, I purchased the
ADCO Designer Series UV Hydro Micro Trailer Cover Up to 16'
It's possible I didn't notice this post was for the Dweller 13', not the 15'...
I went with a TadiBrothers rear camera and clip-on rearview mirror monitor. It doesn't work very well. I'd like to know what the next-level best is to replace it.
BoonieGoonie,
So far the only mods I've made of any significance has been to add a DC-DC charger, a wireless rear view camera and a lower flow shower head. Oh, and I wrapped the water lines, water and grey tanks.
Great to hear about your UEV-14 purchase! I'm sure you spent a lot less than we did at the height of Covid.
We call our trailer The Beast and our neighbors and friends called it the Urban Assault Vehicle. Now we are thinking of a vinyl wrap to change the color and cover up the CONQUEROR...
ROA has been great in supporting us with our trailer. Without the them, my ability to work on the trailer myself, and what I know about OBI, I honestly wouldn't have bought new.
Are new UEV-14s even available in the USA anymore?
Yes, actually. I forgot about a leak around the skylight over the dinette. I finally tracked it to an incomplete caulking job around the gland on the roof for the entry for the solar panel wiring. I also renewed the caulking around the skylight and bathroom vent. So far so good.
We've...
After 2 years owning our UEV-14 and many miles dragging it off-road, I don't think you are crazy to look at one at all. IIRC, it's about 1000 lbs. lighter than a Dweller of the same size and the layout has been perfect for us. Have I had to make repairs? Yes, on outside latches to the rear...
The Dweller might be different from our Conqueror, but i was able to unbolt the diamond plate from each tank when i wrapped them with insulation. The bolts that hold the diamond plate also go through mounting holes in the tank. In this way, the diamond plate can be removed without removing the...
