New vs used arb 50qt fridge

New 50 with cover, wireless monitor, free shipping, no tax for $877 Or craigslist has a used one with cover for $500. It's a 2011 and sounds like it was used often. 5 years of use worth $377?

    ARB 50 QT -- Buyer's Remorse?

I'm tempted to get a 50qt myself. I don't think I'll need to leave it my jeep 24/7, but since I have a shed/workshop that I frequent, maybe I could use the ARB as an expensive beer fridge when I'm not camping or going on a road trip. How many days can it run in a JKU before it shuts off?

Dstock's M101A1 build... or the reality, I needed a new project!

Great build, it has me shopping for an M101A2! As for the bent bed- what about a body shop with a frame straightening rig? I bet they could pop that out with pretty good precision.

    Hard sided adventure camper recommendations

Look into the fiberglass shell campers like Scamp (Wisconsin), Casita (Texas), and Escape (B.C.). They're built more like a boat and the cabinets are fiberglass shells, so not particle board and staples. Weight is low. Possibly upgrade the axle and tires (Casita sells an "off road" option)...

Step 1- help me start planning a DIY trailer for my JKU

Great ideas, keep them coming. I do like the Timbren axles- nothing in the middle to get hung up. I'll either do the lunette or a 2" ball hitch. If I figure out a bolt on option, I could switch between the two based off a street trip of if I want to drag it on a trail. I'll have to figure...

Step 1- help me start planning a DIY trailer for my JKU

I have a few threads on here already about other trailer ideas, but I had an epiphany here at work and I'm going to build my own trailer gosh darn it! I took an into to welding course last weekend, I already have a Miller 110v Mig welder, and in class I learned my welds are stronger than the...

Laying out a 4x8 to be a temporary camping trailer. Kitchen ideas? Othe thoughts?

My dad has a 4x8 galvanized steel snow-bear snowmobile trailer. It's pretty heavy duty, has removable sides, and I'm eyeing it as the solution to go camping with my family of 4 in my Wrangler Unlimited. The only problem is we actually use the trailer quite regularly so I'm thinking of some...

Well my dog passed away. Sad but now I can start thinking about shelves or racks.

What sprinter 4x4 layout for 2 adults/2 kids for camping?

I just got done reading through the sportsmobile website and I'm impressed. Unfortunately, the layout tool doesn't work on my work computer. For 2 adults and 2 kids, what would be best layout? This would be for road trips, vacations, camping, and visiting friends/relatives without enough...

What makes an off-road trailer an off-road trailer

We need a thread on basecamp trailers then. Beef up a 4x6 landscaper? I need to haul a big 'ol cooler full of beer (can't go camping without that), ez-up awning, weber Q100, folding chairs, coleman stove, and a few rubber maid tubs full of gear. When I had an F250 it all fit in the back under...

How to pack up a JKU for camping?

Nope, no racks or drawers. I have a collection of action packer and Rubbermaid totes. I'll have to see how much I can pack in there and figure out a solution for the rest.

How to pack up a JKU for camping?

What setups have you guys found that works best? I plan to take my family of 4 out to the George Washington and Jefferson National Forests in Virginia for some mild off-roading and camping. I'll be starting out with a family tent, cooler, folding chairs and of course bags of clothes, gear and...

New to "car" camping. What family tent for family of 4?

I have a lot of experience backpacking. I've been on hiatus since having kids (boys, 3 and 5). We did one car camping trip to the local park for a shakedown/test and everyone had a great time. Now were ready to hit the national forests this spring. Aside from ultralight tent/tarps, I only...

What base trailer to start build with? Would like a M-416 style with lid

That's not the plan at all. We stay outside the whole time except when it's time to sleep. That's why I'd rather have a trailer to sleep in rather then a tent. No plans to sit inside which is why we're not considering an rv. The only piece I haven't researched is that if a cargo trailer is...

What base trailer to start build with? Would like a M-416 style with lid

Thanks fellas, I'll read up on those. After researching all day, I'm starting to sway towards to converting a 6x10 cargo into a micro camper. Basically a hard-shell tent that's insulated and climate controlled. I'm thinking a pair of disc-o-bed bunks- adult on the left side, kids bunks across...
