Ill have to give that a shot. Just getting new reflectors helped a TON.
A lot of the diff-drop lifts have drop spindles, but the issue that you have is the operating angle of the CV joints and they bind if you move it down too far...
As all of us in the GMT800 mafia are aware... no one makes stuff for these trucks that is along the lines of our somewhat unique use case that falls into standard truck duty but with more off road and spending more money on stuff. Anyways, bumpers are one of those things that are super...
So, suspension...
When we picked this truck up it had whatever the electronically controlled shock things where that the dealer wanted $400 a corner to replace. And all of the shocks were blown. So we after dealing with it generally riding like crap and bottoming out and topping out due to the...
So. I'm finally getting around to throwing together a build thread for my wifes 2003 GMC Sierra. It is a late '03, has the 5.3 with max tow, G80, 2wd, regular cab and 79" bed. Now, a little about this truck... My dad bought this thing new in 2003 for his company truck and when he did that he got...
Yeah, I'm looking forward to it!! The build page is coming.... I opted for the DS501 coilovers and a slightly lower profile upper mount, so, it should be interesting.
I also picked up some lift spindles for it... so those are gonna push the front track out a tiny bit, got some rear spacers for...
Here's a better shot.. Between the splash shield, bumper, air director from the holes in the bumper to the radiator, there is TOTALLY enough room for a winch and a plate up there.
Also, drei, I'm waiting on springs for this truck still but I'll start a build thread on our 2wd once all the...
Agreed.
I spent part of my day yesterday crawling under our 2wd to get some ideas sketched out for some skid plates for ours. Tons of room with the chassis, but damn the plastic hangs low. it totally looks like there is enough space between the frame rails to put a winch tho. I have a better...
There are some dowel pins that go between the transmission bell-housing and block, are those binding at all? or is there a wire harness or something in the way?
It was a massive pain to get my transmission and motor lined up on my JKU when i replaced the transmission it last year, biggest was...
Dunno about you, but the engine wiring harness on my 2012 JKU is starting to fall apart. I just had to replace the #2 camshaft position sensor connector as the conductors broke inside the insulation due to poor strain relief from the factory.
The AC compressor is controlled from the computer...
Totally on point with not needing a 4x4 for a lot of adventures. We scrapped searching for a new truck in favor of going through and refreshing (and making the suspension better suited for our high speed desert romps!) our Sierra that we've had for a while and its been in the fam for forever...
Yep. From what we were looking at, most that had the 2sp t-case were 45-50k sticker at dealers in the bay area. The Colorados were all 30-40k, toyotas amazingly were more reasonably priced and spec'd out imho.
And yet that is what started this all... with some new body-on-frame 4x4 pickup trucks not even having that option anymore unless you go for a higher end off road package. Getting the right tool for the job starting to get harder if you're looking for the cheapest 4x4 you can find. I settled on...
Fancy seeing you here! A bunch of the GMT800 trucks I've been working on all have it, I'd prefer a manual Tcase myself in a truck but I'm old fashioned, heh. At least the auto locker in those trucks is predictable.
The first XJ I owned was an '89 and it had a NP-242 tcase which had a 2hi, 4wd full-time with a center diff, 4hi with the diff locked out and 4low. That truck was a beast and drove a lot better than you'd expect. Too be quite honest I wish I had a similar transfercase in my JKU.
You'll have a mobile rig before too much longer. HT's in mobile use are flat out too cumbersome for extended use. Plus, uh, they tend to fly if you start getting the truck rocking and bouncing around...
Oh, its fine trust me.... Its easier to start in 2nd now than it was when it was new with 29" tires, 3.21 gears and 1st gear. Even now 1st gear is only good to 5mph or so on the street. The NSG370 is a POS and its a pain to shift into and out of first gear. Or any gear. Unless I have a hill or a...
