I went with a captive spring mount for my flatbed, for similar reasons IdaSho mentioned, but my ram is a cab and chassis so it has a different frame design than the standard pick ups, so it might not be necessary? Something to consider though.

Careful of how much weight you put behind the rear axle. Being a short bed that will be easy to do. Personally I would just go with a regular cab long bed and add the AEV stuff if that's your thing. I think the Ute flatbeds are overpriced anyways

I would do two max air fans. One at the front and one at the back so you can push air in with one and pull air out with the other. With some good insulation you should be okay but definitely test it out to make sure.
