    malibubts's 2015 Ram 1500 CCSB Build

We went back to Zaleski State Forest again a couple of weeks ago. I missed several cool things the first time around from being new and not super experienced with Gaia / maps, but it's cool to see your skills improving in real time. We met some friends again so we stayed at Lake Hope State Park...

    malibubts's 2015 Ram 1500 CCSB Build

About a month ago we met some friends up near the Nordhouse Dunes area in Michigan. They've since moved to Chicago and it was a good meetup spot. We split the drive up a bit there on the way and camped along the way at Brush Lake. DSC09869 by ebeiersdorfer, on Flickr IMG_3920 by...

    malibubts's 2015 Ram 1500 CCSB Build

I knew the next step for the setup was to drop the cooler and ice. Even with ice packs and a rotomolded cooler, they sure can be a pain. For a bit I thought about DIYing a battery system since I don't really need AC power but after looking into component pricing and sizing it seemed like the...

    malibubts's 2015 Ram 1500 CCSB Build

Been busy remodeling a bathroom and haven't kept super on top of the updates here so we'll play a little catch up. Shortly after picking up the camper last October I made the trip up to Michigan again to chase some Grouse. We spent the first couple of days hunting on Drummond Island, which...

Talk me out of a Power Wagon

No issues with the weight of your GFC or bad handling when you're at or slightly above payload? I'm toying with moving over to a 2500 and in the same spot with do I go PW or not. Biggest knock I have against the PW is that payload and worrying about a bad ride. I figured I've got 350# in my...

    Simlple Wedge Camper 12V Setup

In terms of price I'm not finding a ton out there much cheaper unless I go full DIY on the battery or buy a bottom of the barrel battery (no low temp cutoff, etc). Straight from Rebel the price is a bit cheaper at $590. SOK which is well regarded is $560 and no bluetooth. Looking at Alibaba I...

    Simlple Wedge Camper 12V Setup

Hey all, looking for a sanity check on my plan for getting power in my wedge camper, really trying to keep things simple here and not go overkill. I had originally looked at prebuilt solutions, but am now leaning more towards a partial DIY setup. For prebuilts I was looking into the EcoRiver...

    malibubts's 2015 Ram 1500 CCSB Build

Now for the big update! I think like a lot of folks I've been drooling over a wedge camper for years. While the truck shell and the Decked drawers work, they leave a lot to be desired. Even though I have the 6 1/3" bed, at 6' I still need to sleep at a bit of an angle and with the wife and a dog...

    malibubts's 2015 Ram 1500 CCSB Build

Again not your typical 'Overland' trip, but we were still able to make it up to the Upper Peninsula for some bird hunting last October. We stopped and hunted a day near Grayling to try and break up the drive, but won't be doing this again next year. With the rise of side by sides all the areas...

    malibubts's 2015 Ram 1500 CCSB Build

Been pretty bad at updates and getting out here with the 'new normal', life happenings, as well as some issues my truck had been having. We managed to get out once last summer and meet up with some friends down at Rothrock and Bald Eagle State Forest. We were out for about 4 days exploring the...

Dogs in truck bed under camper shell?

I don't have an ARE to compare against overall, but Leers offer a tilt down window too FWIW. Not sure about the dog screens.

Dogs in truck bed under camper shell?

I doubt this is the exact same thing that my dad has, but it's the same concept. Cap Boot As I mentioned that, a fan, and a bit of patience/monitoring works well for transport and obviously not leaving the dogs in the truck unattended in the heat. Granted this is OH/KY/IN/MI conditions and not...

Dogs in truck bed under camper shell?

I have a crate in my cab since I have enough room and don't use the back seat but I assume you need that space open? As you know the floor back there isn't flat so I DIYed a Goose Geear type of seat delete / floor leveler and attached some L Track for tie downs. IMG_3111 by ebeiersdorfer, on...

    New JLU Rubicon diesel

The Rams have supplemental in cab electric heaters that kick off below 40F to help warm up the cab quicker, I’d think the Jeeps would have the same. A block heater still isn‘t a terrible idea when you’re consistently below 30F, and helps everything heat up quicker. Great looking Jeep!

    Highway robbery with half tons

Had the same happen when I bought my Ram in 2015. You lost out on I think a $2,000 rebate going with FCA financing at 0%. I ended up going with a third party loan at a little over 1% so the interested paid over the term was pretty low. I think I ‘saved’ $1,500 or so going this route and the...

    Amalgamated wedge camper build

for what i paid in sept 2018 they were a good deal, now from the internet pricing i see i can not say that. As far as the wedge camper portion the quality is good, the bunk length could be a problem for tall people. Im 6’ and have no issue. I feel i kept the best portion Regarding the shell...

    Ford Expedition advice

That’s a bummer. The Cam Phasers on those 5.4L engines are no joke. My parents bought an ‘07 new as a family hauler and lost the engine due to that problem maybe like 1,000 miles past the warranty. Somehow they got Ford to put I a new crate engine for just the cost of labor, after that the thing...

    Amalgamated wedge camper build

Interesting conversion, looking forward to the updates! What did you think about the original Snap? Been looking into Wedge Campers a bit and they are fairly local in comparison to most of the manufacturers.

2020 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 3.0L EcoDiesel

To confirm the questions by a few others I meant what you had suggested. Even with 35 inch tires and a camping load I’d think 25 MPG shouldn’t be much of a problem to hit on the highway. You won’t get that I don’t think for a whole trip, but at least the highway segments. Very happy with it so...
