integrated compact truck in the us

Interestingly, I just looked at the numbers on Redbook (sort of equivalent to KBB/Edmonds I think) for the 1991 Hilux in Australia: RN110 single cab, 22R, manual, 4x4: https://www.redbook.com.au/cars/details/1991-toyota-hilux-manual-4x4/SPOT-ITM-277366/ GVM = 2520kg, towing = 1500kg RN105...

Gaia GPS no longer supports Google Maps Layer. Major disappointment!

Google's Terms of Use are very restrictive when you start looking; I was looking at using their Geolocation API, but you can't store the geocoded data and it can only be displayed on a Google Map. Therefore each time you want to run analysis on the data, it would require reprocessing (whcih gets...

Cool Jeeps You Can't Have - Mahindra of India

I've got to see our local auto trimmer this week with one of our utes, so I might take a picture of those along to show him and see what he thinks is possible - they'd be ideal for our 40 series Land Cruiser or the Daihatsu F25 (Scat/Taft) as well....

    Bikepacking Through Little Germany (Australia)

Glad to see another fan of Pile/Pertex - I've got a Montane jacket I got in about 1999 (back when Montane were still made by Geordies and you'd speak to the ladies who worked on the shop floor to find out how an order was progressing), and a couple of Mardales I got in 2007; I've got one of my...

Cool Jeeps You Can't Have - Mahindra of India

I remember the Mahindra Classic being sold in the UK in the 1990s, along with the Asia Rocsta (which was the Korean licenced Jeep IIRC) - Jeep themselves eventually (re)entered about 3 years later.

Cool Jeeps You Can't Have - Mahindra of India

Thank you for posting all of these - they land at about time to head to bed here, and I pretty much hit refresh until I've had my fix of stories and tales! These modifications almost fit into the category of Jugaad but I think they're a step above that now.

Flatbed conversion, camper design for light weight camper, heavy person.

The one weight that hadn't been mentioned is the driver and passenger. I'm going for 250lbs (about 120kg) each, but I'm wary that I might be underestimating. So, that is a relatively unmovable weight of 500lbs and may as well be struck out of the possible payload straight away.

    New Bronco

Ford always had the Transit in Europe; in the 1980s the commercial vehicle division also had the Ford Cargo (3500 - 7500kg+ range). The Transit Connect replaced the previous small van (the Courier) which was derived from the Fiesta (B-pillar forward) The branding across the commercial ranges...

    Thinking about Trailbalzer

Same as Ford selling off their last bit of Mazda (which is why Mazda and Isuzu did the Ute's together this time). Think Ford are doing the next Ranger with VW to replace the Amarok.

    Thinking about Trailbalzer

Think it took a few years to clear up, but 2017ish was when it started moving forward. https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/industry/vauxhall-PSA-Group-takeover In contrast Australia hated the Insignia here, as they put a Commodoe badge on it

    Thinking about Trailbalzer

*had the Trailblazer - it's been killed off as Holden is no more after GM decided that they were only going to bother with the American markets (they also exited Europe by selling Vauxhall/Opel to PSA); however, I think you can still get the Isuzu MU-X which has an Isuzu diesel in it instead of...

Cool Jeeps You Can't Have - Mahindra of India

We get the Mahindra PikUp here in Australia, they're quite popular with the older farmers around here who don't want to spent Land Cruiser money.

Which type of coordinates do you use?

I use decimal degrees and What3Words as well Even the emergency app here in Australia uses both now, in part because it's much easier to get the 3 words out when the proverbial is hitting the fan than the lat/lon. https://www.triplezero.gov.au/triple-zero/smartphone-applications

    New Defender News

Ultimately if a P400 is a mild hybrid (which IIRC it is) it will be cheaper to tax in the UK than the diesel would be, so that makes a difference in people's purchasing decisions. That difference in tax will flow into the used price as well so whilst the initial capital outlay will be higher, it...

    Redarc Brake controller install

I've just done 600km with ours, and ours has only just finished calibration - we were mainly on highways, so I think we only braked 5-8 times each way. It does nomrally take a few good runs through town to wake it up. When it's being slow calibrating, I just set it to manual mode and use it...

    Land Rover ideas for Jeeps

Poppy Visor or Nana Fringe are how those are sometimes called over here. Mate's 16 yo lad had one on his HJ75, and there's quite a few others knocking around with them on.
