When we were going to Funnel lake at Coyote flats I forgot to take some action shots of the trailer (oops) but it worked flawlessly here is a poser shot of the clearance but we went over rocks like this on the trail with no problem.
Well I had originally put my portable fire pit in a Trasharoo bag and just strapped it down on top of the nose box, but on our trip to the Sierras it proved to be a pain in the butt always un-clipping it.
So I decided to mount it on the side of the nose box instead.
Also got a roof vent...
I fabbed up some holders from 1" round tube, covered the tube where the yak sits with grey PVC and hung them under our patio cover. They never get the sun on them so I don't need to cover and living in so cal the temp stay's ok. We live in a condo so space is limited, I had no choice but to go...
I clicked on the link and realize it's full but would like to know what it cost's their site does not tell because they are full any info would be great... Thanks ... Thomas
Every day.... Mine is 5x8 off road...... I wouldn't build a bug out trailer any bigger than 6x10 otherwise your limiting/risking where and how to get out of town.
personally as a trailer builder I can't stand them. In theory if you fully max out the trailer weight they say the axle will flex to (straight). Here is what I have learned I had a cambered axle on one of my previous trailers and was never able to max out the load hence my tires NEVER rode flat...
Arya.... shocks will work just fine when they are layed over (totally horizontal) no but as long as they have some angle they will work. On my trailer shock location was limited by available space under the trailer. I happened to have a pair of Rancho RS9000 I got for free and new at that. Mine...
Got the under bed storage all squared away, there is enough room to keep all the odd size items secure and out of the way.
Covered the top with a heavy duty vinyl for ease of cleaning.
Added a shelf for our clothes boxes and bathroom boxes.
I dont have a side door in the trailer (yet) it's...
Once the kitchen is in (in the back) there will be no access to an end, it will be set up like the teardrops, there will be a side door on the pass side and they can be lifted up from there.
EDIT (also the bed is bigger than what one piece of ply would cover, so it had to be two piece)
I made a raised platform for the bed, it's 5.5 inches up, On trailers like these there is a lack of storage space/compartments unless you just want to throw everything on the bed (which I don't) so this will give me a place for chairs, folding tables, lantern stands and so on. The lid is two...
I use Henry's 208R wet patch roof cement (brush on) on the frame and wood, its water proof and if you gouge it on the trail it is easy to touch up. Low cost compared to other products but just as effective.
Thank You Bob....... like you, I want to keep the Mrs. happy while out exploring. The pics make it look bigger than it really is. It's a 5x8. Yours are coming along very nice I might add.
Got the SS recessed panel in and sealed. The next step I will be adding a wrap around rear tube bumper which the propane tank will sit on. The reasoning behind all this is I wanted a full size tank but it stuck out past the fenders, now with the recessed area it will be 1/2" less than the...
