Finally got the matching shoe's on the the trailer, now the FJ and the trailer have identical tire/rim combo. There is 23" of clearance on the trailer body and 15" at the axle.
I got some shocks mounted up, these will serve a dual purpose. I put the axle under the spring to raise the trailer so these shocks will help control any spring wrap on hard hits at speed. They are adjustable Rancho 9k's I had to set them on the #6 setting because of the angle.
I'm going to put some sort of bracing to the frame, there are five bolts going through the pinch seam, I think what I'll do is have two brackets at the back and two at the front and nothing in the middle. That should have enough distance to allow any body/frame movement.
So here is a teaser shot of the rock/rub rails w/bump out I'm making. The bottom will be 2x2 square tube and the back bump out tube will be 1.75 and the front tube will be 1.5. This shot gives you the general idea of the design, the 1.5 will be notched to fit snugly onto the 1.75. I'll update as...
I kept my muffler from my diesel truck I had awhile back and put it to good use. It's an RBP stainless steel muffler, the V10 has a little deeper rumble now.
Chris does/will a sliding door clear the aftermarket plastic fenders on a van? also if I get the fenders and still need to cut back the front opening will that be possible.
I would definitely add some bracing to the tongue back to the main frame. Looks like a cool little trailer with lots of potential. I was looking for side boxes before and everyone wants an arm and a leg for them.
Are they put together raw? if so I would (and this is just me) take them apart prime and paint everything, the paint will rub down regardless. Its not hard or dangerous to take the springs apart. Just put a "C" clamp on the spring take out the center pin and unscrew the clamp (nothing is going...
