The FJ pulls it fine. I've read all the same comments about it's weight but doing what both of us have done it's closer to 1000lbs empty now with very little tongue weight. Now, if you are comparing to a much smaller M416 type of trailer then yes, it might be considered heavy but comparing to...
Yeah.. but he billet spacers look so cool!
My information was iffy and I didn't want to order an axle then need the spacer thereby being too wide so I just bit the bullet and ordered it narrow and bought the spacers... no gray area then.
Worked out well but good info to have.
Thank you sir.
Yep... BUT, they are not hub centric and have 1/2" studs, not 12mm, nor can you get them to build it with 12mm studs. You could probably knock them out and put some 12mm in without too much trouble but you still gotta have the hub centric setup for the FJ wheels.
Now.. if you...
Receive this via PM and thought it was worth reposting here:
Thank you.
You can start reading about post 23 on page 2. The problem is that you can't order an axle from Dexter or anyone else with 12mm studs and most importantly a hub centric face, so there's not really anything to center the...
Thanks...it was far more work than I intended but am pleased with the results. The results are also greatly attributed to your build!
Sleep.
Need to mount the fuel and water cans after reflectors, license plate, etc... have some lettering to do. Not sure after that.
Finished painting the trailer after hours and hours of sand, prime, repeat. Color code 058 single stage acrylic enamel then sprayed the bed and trim. All I have left to do is mount the lift rings, reflectors and license plate and it's finished. Kinda...then I start adding stuff.
I probably...
You can buy them just about anywhere. It's a Bulldog top wind with the weld on swivel. I think the total max height was 29.5". I bought this one from Quality Trailer parts. Don't have the PN handy just this minute.
Well, I needed it to come home so I can work on it here... 2 month old boy and all, hard to get away.
Taking it by Maaco tomorrow for a quote...time is short for me so I'm going to see what it might cost to let them spray it white and black to match the FJ. Still haven't made up my mind about...
The planets aligned and it quit raining long enough for me to get the bed mounted and what not. Pulls great, rides smooth and not bouncy (had about 300lbs in it) sits just a touch nose high which is good. Axle width with spacers is perfect. LED tail lights work great. The FJ doesn't even know...
Thanks. I thought about some sort of hard top and an RTT, maybe later. Right now I have an idea about using the tops of the bows:
This very basic drawing is supposed to be of the rear. Basically I can take the bow 'elbows' which are the correct size for the stake pockets, toss aside the...
Made great strides tonight. Mounted the axle, wheel spacers, wheels/tires and shocks. Cut holes for 6" LED's in rear C channel, welded up the front hitch channel and Bulldog jack and did some touchup painting. Need to run wiring and the frame is finished. Next up is the bed.
Here's a few pics...
I didn't get those...just the mounts and a steel gas can. I bought one here though:

Axle is in, will try to pick it up tomorrow along with some 6" LED's, wiring, Bulldog rotating jack and the 2" adjustable hitch. Should have a roller asap.
Also picked up a few goodies from Steel Soldiers and the FJ Cruiser forums...
Jerry can powder coated black and the two black mounts you...
