    Hook Vs Loop?

"modern synthetics" is also a loosely used term. Chinese modern synthetic is probably crap compared to USA modern synthetic. So, yeah, having an extra layer of U.V. protection for the cheap stuff that we run would be a wise move. I'm running the cheap chinese modern syn on the 4runner ;)

    Wavian vs Vevor Jerry Cans

My GF bought a Vevor diesel heater that I installed in her camper and I was impressed by the whole package. The actual quality of the heater remains to be seen after the camping season is over but the kit included everything plus a little extra. A decent bang for the buck. This has been my...

    Light for Vehicle Repairs

I feel ya brother, I feel ya. Just yesterday I was using the same HF light to light up the area I was welding, under the vehicle. It gets the light just where I need it and able to see it through the auto darkening helmet.

    Hook Vs Loop?

One idea i might suggest is to purchase a hyd hose liner that's long enough to cover the outermost layer of your rope on the winch drum. That'll keep the U.V. from damaging the rope.

    Hook Vs Loop?

Let's see, one vehicle has a D shackle at the end of a steel cable. The other one has some kind of a fandangle alum thing at the end of syn cable. The steel line+ D shackle is probably going on 20 years. The syn cable + Factor 55 thing is less than five years old, and it was a gift. I...

    Traction Board Recommendations

Traction boards are the rage these days. One of these days I might jump on that bandwagon, but for now, it's four aggressive snow chains when I go snow wheeling. I just avoid mud altogether, if at all possible  . But if clay mud is a possibility where I'm going to wheel, I'll throw...

    Light for Vehicle Repairs

I'm late to the party but like the poster above mentioned, old fashioned headlamp always gets my vote. Heck, my headlamps get more use under my vehicles than in campouts. I have some of the above mentioned magnetic things but the headlamps are my go to. Every car has one attached to the...

Better brands and places to get recovery equipment (shackles, etc.)?

It's a wonder I'm still alive from using D shackles for the better part of last 30 years

    FS: GA - National Luna Fridge/Freezer 60L

Is this some sort of a plug and play update of the control panel? May I have the external dimensions please? National Luna provides this information in metric without being specific as to which one is the width, and which one is the height. Out of the three numbers stay posted, I can guess...

    SOLD: 2018 Conqueror UEV490 Platinum-

This is a REALLY good objective feedback for potential camper purchasers. In order to get more visibility, I wonder if a new thread with a catchy title would work? Just a suggestion!

    Quality 12V Kettle

No problem, glad I can help you sort this out. My coffee addiction isn't simple but I use the Jetboil to boil water for espresso. I also use the Jetboil to boil water in a Belman stove top steamer for frothing the milk. Making cappucinno takes way more effort (bean grinding, pulling shots, etc)...

    Quality 12V Kettle

A product like a JetBoil is about as easy as it gets. I know the OP is looking for an electric 12v kettle but cooking/heating with fuel is much faster and efficient than anything electric. Using an inverter to boil water is extreme but if your camper is setup for all electric, I can totally...

    FZJ80 shopping- am I crazy?

You made excellent points - given enough money, lots of things can be made possible. Diesels are simply awesome at what they do, pull a house down the hwy, after yanking it off the foundation :) . I too am having dirty thoughts about a H151 going into my turbo 80......

    FZJ80 shopping- am I crazy?

Funny thing is that my 2003 4runner has more useable inside space than the 80. Of course, they're two different animals but I thought it was interesting to see the stark contrast. The 80 cargo area is huge compared to the 4runner as one might surmise.

    Blender, My LX450/FZJ80 + FJ45esk + GM + Land Rover crazy concoction

Thank you VERY MUCH for this extensive guide to installing the Albright and the Evo winch controller. I wanted to upgrade to a wireless controller for my Warn M10k winch, but wasn't sold on the Harbor Freight wireless unit that seems to be popular. This fits the bill perfectly for me. I don't...

    FZJ80 shopping- am I crazy?

I'll chime in here with my .02 cents worth, maybe worth even less! I see lots of folks touting the attributes of the venerable 1HD-T/1HD-FT engines, however, the torque is less than a 1FZ-FE while having the same HP (all be it, at different RPMS) . The folks that tout their 20+mpg diesel...

Long Range America replacement tank for 80 series

This is exactly my point, just because I have an extra 15g (oem subtank) carrying cap, doesn't mean that I'm always going to utilize it. I have to stop at the gas station with everone else anyway, LOL!! However, one pro of having 40g of fuel is that I can fill up at my local Costco for the...
