I have used Durabak on my trailer and the floors of my TJ. I was a bit rushed doing the floors and they didn't turn out well, or hold up as well as I'd have liked. The trailer, on the other hand, still looks great. I used multiple colors and textures and have been pretty happy with all of it...

OMG, that thing is ridiculous! I love it!

I've thought about cutting one down in the back to allow the loading of a Jeep and convert, or better yet start with a trailer that the front of is living quarters...

My guess would be that most XJ's in your area would need most of your $10k budget to fix rust! That having been said, there are probably more unmolested mid-mileage 1-2 owner Grand Cherokees out there to start with.

I hadn't even considered the HRV, I have yet to see one in real life, LOL! According the the Honda website, the HRV is about 3 inches longer wheelbase, about 9 inches longer overall.

If it is an option, I'd say this is probably your best bet for upgrading your Fit for of road use...

You know, I'm looking at those sliders, I wonder how much of a market there would be for a similar product in other vehicles, like a Suburban/Tahoe/Yukon/Escalade? Pretty much any large hardtop SUV without rear vent windows....

Have you considered going the other way, towing the GC behind a motorhome of some sort? Maybe a B or C class? Might be the better way to go as far as room and still have the GC to go exploring in and return to the comforts of your road home at night?
