A few brief searches on the interwebz were inconclusive, so I will just ask a question of anyone who has owned an Avalanche. Can the mid-gate be folded down and leave the tonneau cover and the rear window in place?
I find it odd that there is no mention of this feature on any dealer website...

Just FYI, the J30s are essentially built to order and are only in the 2nd or 3rd year of production, so there aren't tons of them out there. You might be better off looking for a trailer with a roof top tent or a teardrop trailer to tow behind your JKU on such relatively short notice.
Yeah, it's not something I would want to do to mine, but I suppose worst case scenario is you remove the modified roof and replace it with a soft top. It looks like there were minimal if any mods to the Jeep itself, just the top.
I wonder if there is a european version of that van that would have what would amount to a driver side sliding door here in the USA? If you could source the door itself, it would sure seem like it save you lots of body work and fabrication if the opening is consistent...
This was something I noticed when shopping for my last DD. I was looking at Explorers, Durangos, etc.. and it turned out there was no real saving in cost or mileage over most of the similar fullsize maybe 2 years older....
