Nail on the head right here. Companies that work this way have never truly got off 5he ground and do this because they don’t have the capital cash to buy materials...and pay their wages. Your deposit was used to fund someone else’s work in progress, including wages. They are depending on...
Hey Mod(s), what happened to all my photo links? I know photobucket pulled some underhanded crap and busted everybodies links, but they were still here. Now all I see is " [/IMG]" where there used to be a complete link to the photo on photobucket. They finally got their heads out of...
Nope, not going to make the Fort this year, and that sucks. It’s one of my favorite places to stay. We spent 5he entire summer there last year and I hated leaving. I sold my business and some real estate as a sale of opportunity. A buyer popped up and I took it and pretty much took a year...
Yep, it’s gone. Living out in Colorado now. Regretted it almost instantly. The Unimpg is the last project on my vehicle project list. I got my CJ moved into my detached but have yet to do any serious work to it. Seems like there is always another honey-do or some damn thing in the way.
I may go that route in the future, but for now I think I'm going to put my CJ back together, finish my Jeep truck, and FINALLY get my Unimog on the road.
Consider yourself lucky you didn’t go the military beadlock direction I did. A whole new definition of nut-busting goodness at just shy of 190# a piece.
I wouldn’t hesitate to dump 5he beadlocks. I ran standard setups for decades, down to single digits of pressure, and never rolled a bead...
The only thing that was REALLY bad were those tire/wheel combos. Sweet baby jesus those things were heavy. I was moving around stuff today for my CJ-7, which rolls on 37/12.5s just like the Ambo, but those things were feather light compared. I loaded one in my Stuper Duty and it was gravy...
What transmission is in there? If it's the 5r110 which started in ‘03 I think, you don't even have to pull it out of the frame to convert. Pull 5he adapter off the rear and the output shaft swaps out from the back. Remove, replace, attach xfer case adapter, do The Happy Dance!
I meant the big Ambos not so practical. Type II not so bad, but more and more I'm digging just the standard van conversion like the Orange Blossom Special up above. Way less bulky and a bit more offroad-able. And my first real truck was a Ford with that color scheme, back when I was still in...
I like the snot out your rig dude. If I'm not careful I may end up in one of these in place of the Ambo. Wicked cool they are, but not amazingly practical back east.
On it's way out West. Probably a better location for it anyway, but I'm going to miss this one. It turned out to be one of the coolest things I've ever built. Ah well, onward and upward....
Seriously, I don't even care. It's a 5+ ton rolling building and fuel mileage was never in the cards, but last I bothered to check was 11-ish highway. You might be able to squeeze 12 out of it if you're running very forgiving terrain. A proper adjustment of the IP and timing might do wonders...
Take a look at an actual M416, which many off-road trailers are modeled after. They are decades old and usually have only given up the ghost because a) some civilian didn't take care of it and it rotted away or, b) somebody physically destroyed it by dropping it out of a plane sans chute or...
Anyway.....SPF. will know for sure in a week.
If you want to throw your hat in the ring have at it because ******** happens and a deal ain’t done till the money is in the bank..
