Yes, it's a basket case. No, I was not on drugs when I built it... (2001 Toyota Tundra 2->4WD Build)

EDIT: I have since gone back to the standard J-Shift pattern/shifter. I was never able to concretely say that it caused the issue, but I had a transfer case syncro go out because the case kept trying to shift into 4wd on the highway. I replaced the case and went back to the original shifter and...

2005 Tundra novice build - "The Rez"

This is going to be an approximation so consider the numbers arbitrary If the truck weighs 5600lbs say 60% is on the front 5600X0.60 = 3360lbs over the front Start by splitting the truck in half along the driveshaft axis, so we divide that by 2 (one spring per side) 3360/2=1680lbs we need...

2005 Tundra novice build - "The Rez"

Don't throw the baby out with the bath water, any shock can be revalved, hell most of them share components. There is only so may ways you can make a damper. Outside of spool valves and manufacturing tolerances they are all basically the same. If you can wait a week or so, its not too bad price...

When I did the rear axle swap I installed rear disc brakes and in the process went through several different combinations of calipers, master cylinders, and boosters. The rear calipers I have installed now are pretty small but at one point I was using really large piston calipers in the rear...

A340 Rear Trans / Transfer Case Breather

When I installed the 4WD A340 Trans and transfer case in my tundra I noticed that the rearmost diff breather (on top just in front of the transfer case) was missing the cap. I currently have a vacuum cap over the stem but need to get a proper breather on it before I take it to the beach this...

Its a well put together list of all the bad ideas you would like to try on your truck but instead you listened to the little voice in the back of your head saying "wow that's a terrible idea" Sean

Microsquirt / Raspberry Pi Gauge I wanted to be able to monitor lots of parameters without spending $600+ on gauges and logging equipment. I had been working on this project as a means to run a Kawasaki Jetski a few years ago and already had the parts around for it so into the truck it goes...

Champion radiator install I bought this a few months ago when my second oem radiator (truck has 275k miles on it) started leaking around the end tanks where the crimped on section attaches to the core. They come available from time to time and are sold as an improved version with oe fit. At...

2001 Toyota Tundra SR5 Access Cab V8 2WD 4WD This "build" will be tame by most measures but will (hopefully) end up where I always wanted it to. It is also not going to have lots of cool travel pictures, its pretty much a home depot runner and occasional beach truck/jetski tow rig. The only...
