The Speedmaster could be an alternative to both at 1/4 the price of the Maxtrax and 1/2 the price of the Maxsa. At just under $80 for a pair, I'm not holding my breath, but who knows, maybe we'll all get pleasantly surprised. No real world reviews out there yet except for a vid from some guys...
All you guys with your 14 bolts! Feh!
Hahaha...j/k! I'm just jealous and will probably will do a swap to a 14 bolt SF if and when my 10 bolt grenades itself.
Yup...same video I saw.
I actually ordered a set. If they perform well and seem durable, I'll probably order several sets. At that price point, it's a no brainer.
I'm just hoping that Speedmasters made a quality traction aid.
I guess we'll see when I get mine.
Awesome update! Sorry to hear about bending your spindle. I guess it gave you an excuse to make version 2.0 better and stronger. Incorporating a 7 gal air tank into your bumper is sweet! I also like the storage box above your fuel/water cans. Good stuff man!!
I made a similar post on Overlandbound. I've been doing research on the different traction aids that are out there and came across these by Speedmasters.
I have no experience with these and no affiliation with the company. Just wanted to pass along some info.
Currently they are currently...
Welcome aboard! Nice looking truck! Like other's have mentioned just run what you have. While you won't find as much aftermarket for your rig as you would for a Jeep or Toyota, there is still stuff out there and what you can't find off the shelf, you can have custom made.
With regards to the...
Edited my post. It was a slow straight pull...not a snatch...but like you mentioned, you work with what you have on hand. These guys didn't have to do it that way. They had multiple vehicles and they all seemed to know what they were doing...this was just a small section of their whole...
I saw this in a video recently and it was the first time I saw anyone use a winch this way. Unfortunately I can't remember where I saw the video, but I do remember it was by a fairly well known website.
Just wondering if this is standard technique or not normally done.
There was a vehicle...
I don't know anything about importing vehicles to the US other than it's a pain. Are these vehicles mostly coming from Australia and Japan? Any reason they can't come from country's with left hand drive?
It would have been nice if they thought of making the roof top symmetrical so that you could mount the opening either way, driver and passenger. However, given the fairly aerodynamic profile of the roof, I'm sure you could easily mount it with the opening driverside without taking a huge hit on...
I don't own a RTT yet, but I would think that some sort of security fasteners could do the trick to deter thieves. Someone who is determined would be able to take it regardless of how you lock it up. Angle grinders with cutting wheels can cut through steel like butter.
Here are some...
Thanks for the write up and pics. Great that you had family with you. The kids will remember this for the rest of their lives. Hoping to do Mojave for the first time later this year. Maybe do it in 4 days 3 nights so we have more time to check out stuff.
Love it when you mod your rig and...
