help with ideas for an expo rig for a family with too many kids. lol

Here's a darkhorse entry: Suzuki XL-7. Third-row seating, genuine two-speed transfer case, and pretty inexpensive. Automatic trans with a V6; earlier versions could be had with a manual if that's your thing. OME makes lifts for them. - Andy

    winch wars

Not a dumb question at all. Basically, you're winding the rope onto the drum under tension. Of course I can't speak for any other manufacturers, but at WARN if you get a winch with wire rope on it, the wire will be spooled onto the drum. However, it is not spooled under load, simply wound on...

    winch wars

I'm always shocked at how few people know they need to stretch the winch line before using it. Some people only think you have to stretch wire; some think only synthetic. Both varieties need to be stretched before use. You also bring up a good point, and I don't care if it's our winch or not...

    winch wars

Our M8000 manual says, "Do not power out rope more than 30' without allowing the winch to cool for 20 min. before powering rope back in." With regards to duty cycle, due to differences in ambient air temp, battery connections, and such, it's hard to come up with consistent full-load duty cycle...

Unfortunately, there isn't a cut-and-dry answer for this. It depends on the load, and of course, the winch's capacity. - Andy

    Fiat 500 Rally Thread

As a subcompact car enthusiasts, I' love this idea! I can't guarantee anything, but you might want to give Primitive Racing a shout (they're in Oregon). They do some rally car stuff (skidplates, light bars, etc.), and I know the owner has a Fiat 500. Might lead somewhere...

We just got a AEV Brute Double Cab with the 5.7 HEMI under the hood. This is the last time you'll likely see it stock, however. It's our 2013 SEMA project, so it's getting a host of goodies. The build starts here: http://www.warn.com/blog/2013/09/27/2013_sema_build_aev_brute_double_cab.shtml Andy

Warn Winch and ARB Bumper Compatibility Question

We use the formula: Gross Vehicle Weight Rating x 1.5 = Minimum pulling capacity Assuming the GVWR for the Titan is 7,200 lbs, that'd equal 10,800 lbs. You could likely get away with a 10,000 lb. winch, but you could step up to a 12,000 if you like. As cruiseroutfit mentioned, none of the...

    2001 tracker2dr convertable 4x4 upgrade suggestions

The locker makes a big difference. I took the Sidekick up things I would not have made it through without the locker. Like I said, it does take a bit of getting used to. Every now and then the locker will make a big BANG! and scare the crap out of me! However, on the trails, it's great. - Andy

Hi, I have '95 Suzuki Sidekick with very similar specs to your '01. I have a Lock Right locker in the rear. It definitely does change the driveability—especially around town. It clangs and bangs from time to time; sharp corners in parking lots cause a chirp from the wheel wheels. On the...
