That sounds pretty awesome.
For now I want truck comms, but later on I'll probably get more into it and venture into digital. For now though it will probably just be for the truck, and right now I can't justify the cost difference to get into digital. I'll probably end up with the FT-7900R...
Just got my call sign after passing my tech and my general about ten days ago.

Already have the UV-5R+, but I need to pick up the Nagoya 771 and bigger battery for it. Going to get a mobile setup for my truck soon too.
Indeed! I think I was already a trendsetter though haha. You should have seen how quickly everyone bought V8 Pathy CVs once I had my new diff installed!
Very cool! Sounds like something I'd be interested in too.
Right now I'm looking at the Yaesu FT-7900R or the FTM-100DR. Or maybe the Icom...
Thanks! Glad to help.
I ordered from Nisstec. Bearings were $15/each and the misalignment spacers were $15/set. So overall it was about $60. Not too bad considering the improvement.
Oh hell yeah. It's built ridiculously well. Rocks are no match for this thing. Can't wait to see pics of it on...
Got a couple things done over the last few days. First off, I got my diff cover installed! As many people have proven, the M226 housing is actually very stout and can stand up to an awful lot of abuse. So much so that almost no one makes a full skid for the diff, just tougher diff covers. So...
Thanks!
Haha unfortunately no. Uncle Sam picks something for us.
Thanks! Excited to put it to use.
I used hamstudy.org and the ham test prep app for Android.
Sounds like a lot of fun! Still super bummed I couldn't go. Can't wait to read the trip report.
Thanks man. It was cool to learn...
Looks just about ready for a narrow, steep, winding trail in northern Wyoming!
I just replaced my spherical bearings on my Radflos a couple days ago. Montana doesn't put down road salt at all, and after about two years with the Radflos they were completely shot. I can't imagine how quickly...
In other news, I passed the Technician and General class tests for my ham radio license this morning. Just gotta wait for my callsign to show up from the FCC. Woohoo!
Now I have more stuff to buy for my truck...
Yeah I'm pretty pleased with it. When it's all mounted up it doesn't move at all.
I used to use the bungee-to-the-Hilift method. I like this one though :D
Copy away! I see you already did though haha.
It was very cheap and really easy to make, and really solid. I just painted it yesterday...
I completed a little project today that was a lot of fun for me despite how minor it was. I used to work in a friend's custom fab shop, doing minor metal work. I don't hardly do any these days but I really enjoy it when I do, even if it's a really small job like this one.
Recently, I was...
Well damn that sounds like so much fun. I've yet to make it to Moab, and TOTW and Arches are both really high on my list. I've wanted to do more desert this year so bad. Might do the UTBDR this year. Thanks for asking me though! I would have loved to if I could have.
Sounds like such a blast...
Ahh man I really wish I could. I've got school to go to. If it would have been this week I would have 100% been able to. I'm just finishing up my spring break. Damn, that would have been fun.
Where ya going?
Sounds like a good setup. You should be pretty unstoppable with that.
I can't tell you how stoked I am to actually get out and try them. There were several situations this winter where I really could have used them. This is my third BROG product, and as usual the quality is outstanding.
Hey thanks man! She's come an awful long way. Not a lot of big projects left...
Thanks man! Haha there really isn't one. My buddy who builds race cars has a saying: "it's finished when you sell it."
Yeah it looks to be a really stout cover. Can't wait to get it bolted up.
Oh yeah. It's super beef. I think it'd take a tank shell to put a dent in the damn thing.
Haha...
So I recently got a few new things for Lola! Getting closer to the ever-elusive finish line.
First up is this super heavy duty chunk of awesomeness.
It's the ARB rear diff cover for the M226. It's ridiculously heavy duty and very well finished. The packaging is really well done, and as I've...
