Just back Today from a double Simpson Crossing :-Birdsville - WAA Line - Rig Road - Mt Dare, Then Mt Dare - Via Madigans Track _ Birdsville. Count on at times Running at 25l/Hundred Ks. Fill at Mt Dare was 159Litres and at Birdsville was 210Litres. Sand is a lot different than beach sand which...
Nice video, really looks like a nice place to be. Water for a Canter doesn't get deep till it's at tray height if it is fitted out with extended breathers on diffs, gearboxes and fuel tank. It looks like a nice solid bottom.

If you go back to one of my first threads where I was building up my Canter the Numbers will be there for Rancho 9000's. These though are for resprung axles and take into account the extra lift (at least 50mm) that we put in. I would believe that they would suit standard suspension as closed...
I don't believe you need to go to 37' tyres to get your load rating. 2000 Canter I believe is FG637 and gross at 5,500Kgs. 315/75x16" 127Q rated will get you there and is smaller diameter so easier to pull. Then save for a Turbo and make a new vehicle out of it.

Rockhampton is just north of me and yes I will have to go there shortly so when I do Bramac will be on my list. I've dealt with them for my truck brakes.
Any up grade I would certainly look at. ( You should know me by now.)

You would think that in the bulldust the brakes would just have locked up and then slide on the dust. I now need to do some testing on my brakes as I thought they worked quite well in that situation on hills.
I did look at different boosters a while back and at the time there was a mob that...
Just for some information I believe I read somewhere that the 2WD canters had a larger size diameter brake booster. This would give you more brake pressure at the same peddle pressure and apparently having the same brakes. I think it was written in "Alans" Canter thread.

I thought all FG649 had common rail engines and therefore computerized. You may need to step back to a Fg637 which has the 4D33 engine and old school inline injector pump, 4.2litre, no computer (No limp mode) but you would need to turbo it as standard they came without. Run any fuel as long as...
Let me tell you that generally if a Landcruiser can get through than I can get my Canter through. Take a look at my trip reports of our trips to the Top.
In sand, on steep climbs and deep creek crossings the Canter is at home. All it takes is a bit of reading and this would have been found...
How about some thing like this. 8Hp Honda driving a Landrover Capstan Winch which I use 100 metres of 27000lb (12000kg) rope. Saves taking the Tirfor. Wheels and handle are only for moving it around.

I'm running Alan's wheel and you can't say that I'm easy on them. If you don't believe me look up what I do with my Canter and yes it is loaded to the max (and then some) at times and often it may be sitting on the bottom side wheel with more than it's share of weight in offroad situations. As...
