**SOLD Ram 5500 Flatbed Camper - new pics interior **Price Dropped** & May sell parts
This is expo rig is nicknamed "Overkill". It is a 5500 truck with a camper that is designed to be placed on a one ton truck! Plenty of power and brake to tow a huge horse trailer, boat, you name it behind...
One minor modification and she is officially up for sale
Over the summer, I took the camper off and used the truck as a truck. In the process, I realized that bolting the spare tire carrier to the bed made the transition from RV to flatbed truck very difficult, so I had the spare tire carrier...
@gringoinloscabos - thanks for the compliment. I took the camper off to do some modifications and have access to a truck over the summer. I will take pics tomorrow. The truck w/o the camper gets even more looks and comments! It's just fun to drive.
TC alternative
Check out my expo-rig. I am somewhat conflicted on selling it, as I know the minute I do, the time will be available for me to use it. The only caution I would make is that it requires DEF and availability worldwide might be challenging. I also don't meet your two fixed bed...
@garybo, Rex at Northstar assured me that they put they fill the air gap on the walls with insulation. I have used the camper at 5 degrees F and it performed flawlessly.
Ram truck owners take a look at this announcement from AEV. I have already registered on their site and will convert my front bumper and fender flares as soon as the product is available.

New pics since last trip detailing the spare tire carrier. The hand winch works in both directions and makes it a one person operation to lift and lower the spare tire. This custom rig is up for sale and the full ad is in the expo for sale section.
@Bayou Boy - truck is available. Going to give it a bath tomorrow, first time home since last trip. If you want to discuss the truck and options call me in Mountain Daylight time 303.319.6277
Jim,
I kept the A/C and m/w and the associated mounting brackets. I would be willing to reinstall the A/C if someone wanted that as part of the deal.
Thanks for the interest,
dave
I am selling my 2012 Ram 5500 with the flatbed American Hero Northstar camper. It is registered as an RV and will take you places you had never dreamed possible with all of the comforts of home.

Just got back from 12 days touring the Tetons, Yellowstone and Glacier. The first muddy road over powered my fender flares, so I added some mud flaps on the spot. Thankfully my first failed attempt at fender flares involved some flexible rubber that was easily attached to the fender flares...
@Darwin and Carl - Sorry for the delayed response, I have been in the working vortex of life recently. Am getting ready to make our annual Fall pilgrimage through the Tetons, Yellowstone, Beartooth Hwy, and Glacier NP.
I haven't driven the truck much since installing the flares, but they seem...
I have driven it a whopping 5 miles since installing...I could easily have made them wider, but they appear to work just fine at 3.5" additional flare.
Finally figured out a fender flare solution

hope this helps.
Fender Flares - installed
After many failed attempts to create a wider fender flare, I have solved the problem. I ordered plastic sheets from speedway motors that were 22" wide and cut them down to 7" wide. I attached them with 3.5" protruding out from the existing flare. They are attached...
The idea was to bolt the flares to the existing flares. Turned out to be a 'bad' idea. I have now ordered some flat rubber stock that I intend to fasten to the existing fender flares. I ordered 8" wide 3/8" thick stock from (http://www.rubbersheetroll.com/skirtboard_rubber.htm). When I will...
@Kchristian - it is 11'4" tall (which I believe is about 4" taller than an earthroamer). Keep in mind that I removed the roof air conditioner, as we are seldom in a place with electrical hookups. The A/C removal reduced the height by about 6".
