Hi Katy,
The problem with mounting a spare tire on the front of a vehicle is you block the airflow to the radiator and risk overheating the engine, especially with something like an ambulance which already requires an oversized radiator and transmission cooler.
You can build a rack and put it...
I'm planning on 1300W to 1400W of solar on the roof since they now have those smaller footprint panels, and I can get four on there without overhanging, and I'm using a house battery bank of four Fullriver AGM 6V batteries, wired in a series/parallel configuration, for a total of 500 Ah.
I have...
Big Red was looking good sitting in that campsite!
After reading your list, I have a few questions...
1. You stated, "The 840W of solar and the batteries I have handled all our requirements even with the shade (parked under the trees) and the overcast conditions plus supplying charging/power...
Actually, this is more of what I'm looking for, but this one is too big. I need to find one that's about 10"x 10" so I can use it with one of those 12VDC fans I bought from Penny.

Bob, is that square aluminum vent one of those that opens and closes as air pressure hits it? If so, could you post a link or send me the info on it? I've been looking all over for a couple of those for my Honda generator box as well.
Here is another system you may want to take a look at, and it's much cheaper than the 80/20 stuff. It uses PVC coated 1" steel tubing with various connectors and attachments. I think you could do more with the 80/20 system, but for bed supports or a cargo rack I think this stuff would do just...
That 80/20 aluminum framing is good stuff to work with, and it's what I'm planning on building my roof mounted solar panel rack out of. It would also be good for the bed supports and more versatile than just plain wood or aluminum tubing. Now, if it wasn't so dang expensive!!
Yeah, that is one of the problems I ran into also. I have a full length space about 6" deep below the top of the bench, and it would be perfect to carry items like a rifle in a hard case or all of your bedding and pillows, etc., so I definitely don't want to lose that.
I'm even thinking about...
iggi, I like the swing out design for the supports and that's one I haven't seen before, but it makes sense and it's simple to do.
I was leaning towards the slat design because I wanted to be able to make a single or double bed as needed. A slat design can be configured to make a single or...
Good job on the video Alex, but like others have said, the audio is all over the place. It's mostly way to weak and you have to watch it with your fingers on the volume control making constant adjustments. I would suggest using a directional mic or a lavalier (wireless lapel) mic if you're...
One of the biggest problems with the smaller extinguishers is, most people who buy then have never been trained on how to used them properly nor were they able to participate in a training fire to get actual experience with one. By the time they figure out what works best, the extinguisher is...
I will probably pick up a couple of these at some point, but until I personally test/use one on a fire, I'll still carry ABC extinguishers also. I'm a firm believer in the, 'One is none and two is one!' philosophy.
I'm interested in seeing how this saw does also, because I've been considering purchasing the DeWalt 12" version of it myself just for cutting firewood and maybe the occasional small tree across the trail. I wish they offered a 14" version of it but they don't. The next model up is a 16" and...
