Interesting - one of the benefits of the dial on TR2. Keeps it in the off-road mode you set before you stopped the engine.

I was up in Wyoming for a long weekend last weekend with my D5. Massive blow-downs all over the forest road, sometimes 50 yards of 12"+ trees blown down from the snowstorm a couple weeks ago. Some bypasses cut through the forest over moss/loam/undergrowth, some crawling over trees and...

Yeah, kinda makes me question the approach of the Denver dealer to setting the TC for more wheelspin. I suppose the theory is, if you have some sand over smooth hardpack/rock then the extra wheelspin will sweep the surface until the tires bite. Wheelspin on dirt just degrades the trail and...

Hey remember when Jeep offered a 4cyl hybrid that nobody bought? No? Well, they discontinued it because nobody bought it. They literally only offered it for two model years. It was also extremely unreliable.

No mention whether the D300 will make it to the States, unfortunately. Intelligent All Wheel Drive? Hmmm... sounds like an electronically assisted haldex that puts it in rear wheel drive most of the time (cool for on road driving in dry conditions...), but if this means you can't get Terrain...

Air Compressor that can set a tubeless bike tire?

I usually just furiously rage-pump my floor pump until my arms are noodles. With enough Stan's in there it will eventually seat.... ?

Nice. Would love to see them take the P400 SE spec without the rear locker back to back with the P400 HSE with the locker on Chinaman or Wheeler. Gonna be several inches of snow on that trail by Wednesday morning.

It's the square lower plastic trim behind the front wheel and in front of the door - not the little aero deflector / mini mudflap. Definitely looks worse without it:

Most of them with these larger tires seem to have the bottom trim just behind the front wheel removed when driving, which suggests at full lock there's definitely some rubbing.

I would say with the SOTA updates, the current year glitches will be gone by the time you take delivery of a late 2020 model.

Can't wait to see his first expedition with one. Would love to see a repeat of the Cape Town to Kathmandu trip, or (security willing), Cape Town up the West Coast to Morocco.

Good news: Jaguar Land Rover to continue AJ V8 production in-house

So perhaps that answers the question of what's powering the Defender "SVX" on the 'Ring videos....

Experience with Lucky 8 rock sliders?

It's just the bash plate...for now. Winch tray is separate.... Since that picture I've cut out the plastic to access the recovery point. Not sure if I'll get a winch. They didn't offer a D5 bash plate without the winch guide....

    JLR Restructuring / Reorg

I don't understand that statement...the Defender has all of those things, as do the Discovery, RRS, and Range Rover. A few minutes on their respective configurators proves it. This thread is obviously just another attempt at reviving the Rage and Hate Thread and is non-sequitur to overlanding.

Experience with Lucky 8 rock sliders?

I have them on my D5 and they are ************** beefy - very impressive construction. Super easy to install - only a little cutting of some underside trim, but otherwise they bolt right on into the mounting points already in the unibody for the deployable side step option. Just need a good floor...

So 22,000 pre orders so far, during COVID, and 50K units expected per year worldwide. Not bad. I placed my order for my D5 in May of 2017 when only the pre production models were out. I got chassis number 29,700ish when it was delivered in late August. Sounds like pre orders are strong, but...
