    EZ Trac

Tulsa truck or Monroe Truck are the guys that do most of the conversions. Very big $$$$$ If you checkout the Ecoroamer thread you can find some details on the Ford they had done.

Utilising on board aircon with Genset option.

Actually it’s 240 volt. My suggestion is also to go with a mini split unit. Just make sure to vibration proof the tubes on the condenser and evaporator and make sure the compressor has adequate mounting rubbers. We used these on mining equipment and they worked a treat. Also a lot cheaper...

M2 Freightliner Ambulance Conversion Project. 2007 Crew Cab

Transfer case is air controlled. It is AWD with 30-70 until you apply air to one port the 5-50. Another port controls the lo-hi with air needing to be applied to engage low range. Plus there is also a PTO drive. I do need to check though as I believe it is possible to actually put the transfer...

M2 Freightliner Ambulance Conversion Project. 2007 Crew Cab

4 days into a 4 hour job and I finally have 1 axle pulled to bits. And how is this for a good size 3rd. Took the best part of a day to make a kingpin puller. I found out 1/2 way through that There is a guy in Canada who sells them as a kit. Those are 5/8 bolts and 1/2” plate.

    building the Bullet XV

You may want to consider a float for the suction end. Something that lets you suck from 6-8” below the surface. Generally crap either floats on top or sinks to the bottom.

Two fridges... how to run(temps) maybe overkill?

No one mentioned redundancy. We run dual fridges both for the capacity to be away from resupply longer but just as importantly so that we still have a fridge if one takes a dump. A dual zone does not give you that flexibility. But then again when our truck is all kitted out and full of liquids...

M2 Freightliner Ambulance Conversion Project. 2007 Crew Cab

Perch width would fit a normally sprung medium duty and will work for the front. But I have air ride on the back (and want to keep it) so I will have to move the mounts on the one that goes on the rear. Luckily there are a few guys on Pirate that are playing with these and have sorted out the...

M2 Freightliner Ambulance Conversion Project. 2007 Crew Cab

I have this one waiting for me if I need it. 1” with a 3/4 adapter. And yep about 30#. But hopefully I can work it out with a torque multiplier as it is a lot easier to carry for servicing and repairs. I figure military 9 ton axles are probably not going to wear out in my application so maybe...

M2 Freightliner Ambulance Conversion Project. 2007 Crew Cab

Hmm reading the service manual I think I know why they are so tight. “Assemble lower cover (17) of knuckle then with help of screws press the king pin (11) in it. Tighten the 4 fastening screws to 737 ft-lbs” I can see a 1” rattle gun in my future.

Hmmmm something big is happening! It took a whole day and every bit of lifting gear I have just to get them off the trailer and onto some railway ties. Then tried to undo the knuckle bolts. 500 ft lb rattle gun just scratched the paint. 2’ breaker bar and 6’ cheater just bent the breaker bar...

Priming Diesel after filter change in an OM366LA

Ok disclaimer first. I am not familiar with your model Mercedes. I am going off my OM926LA. I think the fitting with the ball valve is where you connect an external priming pump. Think of a stainless weed spray unit filled with diesel and a quick connect on the fitting you mentioned. Also...

modern diesel for overlanding in developing countries - post your solutions

I can only speak for US derived trucks (not pickups). But my general summary for use with USDL as well as HSD is: Up to 1998/9 mechanical injection. Up to 2004 electronic injection with no emissions crap. 2004-2006 EGR which will cause issues but manageable (at a price) 2007-2010 DPF and the...

    FRONT motorcycle rack??

I have set my rear rack up so the door open with some of my bikes on there (the R1200RT gets in the way of 1 door opening fully). But I am considering actually splitting the back door horizontally and having the bottom 1/2 barn doors like they are now and a single hatch type door on the top so...

Ambulance switch labeling ideas or solutions

I bought this on Amazon for about $30. I am sure there would be 4 gang ones if you looked. For me it wasn’t worth the time to try and do them myself.
