Yeah you need to clean them out before any road work otherwise it shakes like a dog crapping razor blades. A bigger problem is any rocks or sticks that get pushed in with the mud. They can work their way through the sidewalks.

I am happy with a bit of offset just so I can get away from situations like these.

Medium Duty Ambulance FAQ (Freightliner, International, GMC, Chev)

FYI the axle widths on my FL60 were 71” on the back and 91” on the front. Mounting face to mounting face. I ran 11” rims that had the mounting surface about 1” inset from the edge of the rim. Flipping them back to front got the track within a inch or so. My choice if I was leaving the current...

Medium Duty Ambulance FAQ (Freightliner, International, GMC, Chev)

Goes to prove you shouldn’t let the dyslexic guy punch in numbers. I don’t know what I meant to put in there but that is the centered one. The steel ones for the front I have out the back are basically flush with the bead on the rim.

    Forest Sevice Hotshot Crew Truck.

You can pickup a Scangauge D and pull your mileage etc straight from the ECU. About $130 and helps read codes if needed. There is also a product called Silverleaf that interfaces the trucks diagnostic port (make sure you have a look and count the number of pins before buying) to a PC. It shows...

Remember without photos it didn’t happen [emoji3] Mode button. If you find the TCM it will have a couple of codes on it. Take those to the local Allison genuine dealer and they should be able to tell you what it is programmed for. I have never seen one programmed for the PTO usually it changes...

Having them match also helps a lot with the 2 wheel rut type tracks. If they are offset they tend to walk side to side ( sort of like a boat chinewalking). No where near as bad dual wheels but still a bit of a PITA. One other major advantage is just picking your way through rocks etc. where...

Ski Bum Truck V2.0, F450 Rough Road RV

“Getting further before you get stuck”. Out in the bush we used to have a rule. 4WD was to get you home. You don’t use it to get places. If you have to pull it into 4WD to get somewhere then you shouldn’t be going there. That was for work and not play so the rules were flexible to get to the...

I have some in Phoenix and can do any measurements you need if that helps. They are the Hutchinson alloy ones.

    E-450 7.3 powerstroke PCM issues?

My suggestion is to change those harnesses as soon as you can. If you pick the time and place to make the change it’s a lot better than waiting for them to fail. Parts are relatively cheap and while they are a bit of a PITA to do there is no rocket science involved. Also consider doing the...

BeefCake's build...a roll your own Earthroamerish family expo rig

I would suggest just seeing what is available in LED’s at the local truck stop. Reasonably priced, spares are easy to come by and if the had crappy lifespan those guys would soon let them know. I personally like Trucklite brand but in reality you are paying for the name. Also something that...

    Ambulance Wiring/electrical Isolation Question

The module master switch will control a good size solenoid somewhere. If you pull the incoming 12v supply from that and run it to your house bank. If you don’t care about the module control then just feed the house battery to the output side of the solenoid. I believe the module master switch...

    Point Five Ambo Build

Big red came with 2 cameras. I was going to pull the inside camera and put it out the back for the hitch/motorcycle rack. But the one one the back now has a wide enough field of view to keep an eye on the motorcycle. So before you go breaking out the wallet for a second camera I suggest you...

    How important is GVWR?

Factory rating is not just about that ability to carry/pull the weight. It is about the ability to stop and it’s handling. Most little expo trucks (yes I include up to the 2500 rigs) are now running larger diameter tires and carrying a lot of weight. That severely impacts the braking capacity...

    Forest Sevice Hotshot Crew Truck.

They would make a great base for a camper. The main issue I noticed when I checked them out was the rear entry. We are either carrying a bike or spare tire when we are not towing so that is a pain. Also a pain from the amount of dirt that comes in through rear entry doors. (We are considering...

Ah mate. That’s only a roo bar. This is a bullbar. Seriously though it’s a great well thought out concept and I will be looking forward to seeing the finished product.

Interesting to hear your long term review of your loo (toilet). $60 is a whole lot better than what I paid for our nature’s head but my wife is happy with it so even know it was a pain in the wallet its worth the money for me.
