I have used the cement mixing trays in the past. They work well and are cheap (and easy replaceable). Look at the contractors end of Home Depot. They also make great parts bins for stripping axles, gearboxes, engines etc.
Looking at breaking free for a week and needed the ability to have a shower. So I threw the Eccotemp on the door with a 39 gallon tank and now it’s all go. 2 hours to fit the tank 8 hours chasing fittings, 20 minutes for the Eccotemp and about 2 hours chasing leaks. What a PITA.
Couldn’t...
If you want 2nd hand then look for power line bucket trucks otherwise I would suggest the Stewart and Stevenson 6x6 over the older AM general especially if you can get one with the Car 3216 or C7 over the Cat 3116
One other thing to think of is that the holes behind the lights are great access points for getting at your wiring and running pipework etc.
You can get 1/16 aluminum sheets from most good metal suppliers that you could use and just silicon/screw over the holes. It would blend in fairly well...
Pity I’m not further through the 4WD conversion. I have 6 5000 mile old Goodyear’s that will be surplus.
But out of all the options I think the Toyo’s. I have a buddy that runs them on logging trucks and swears by them. And being really kind to him I would call him “frugal” ( or in Australian “...
For the intercom system check with the guys who get their ambulances off the fire departments. A few of those have the intercoms (my dual cab does but the single cab doesn’t).
I would suggest you talk to someone like Expedition Outfitters or the like that import Australian trailers and see if they are interested in throwing a few into the container.
I have never seen anything like them in the USA but then again since I already have one I’m not looking.
Add me to the composting toilet fan club. We have tried all types (cassette, porta-potti, black water and now Nature’s Head). I will never willing go back to the liquid based systems. We have a spare “P” tank but have not used it yet. Tipping out the “P” tank every couple of days is not a...
We have a potjie and a bedourie oven (think camp oven but made of steel not cast).
The potjie is great for feeding a bunch of people but we have completely different cooking methods between the 2. The potjie is a layered cooking method and the more pointed shape of the shape and the length of...
They are Canadian and I think they keep their gear longer than the US. But there are a bunch of older Iveco’s (I think) that would make a lighter base.
As part of the DIY classes we run at expo I always tell people to follow the 2-3/3-2 principle. That is it will either take twice as long and cost 3 times as much or will take 3 times as long and cost twice as much.
Most people add up the big items to get a ballpark figure and go from there...
International 6x6 extra cab. Interesting part was the rear axles were the same width as the front and ran 395/85R20 tires on bead lock rims.
I didn’t get a chance to crawl around underneath but I would like to get some numbers off the axles.
There were a few other cool toys as well but no...
We would always specify the military wrap on any springs ordered for our mine vehicles. But those guys were extremely hard on vehicles.
So my suggestion would be if they sent the wrong ones again send them back. If you ordered wrong I would use them.
I like how snuggled up to the back the bike is. But am I getting it right. You load the bike by running into inside then putting it onto the rack?? [emoji848]
