    Best Bags for Camera Equipment??

I've been using Tenba photo bags for the last thirty years - they're really well made and offer good protection. I think I own about five of them in different sizes depending on how much stuff I want to lug around. If I'm traveling in my truck I generally use one of the three or four Pelican...

    Any trials riders in here?

One of the most fun bikes I've ever owned was my old Mick Andrews Replica Ossa 250 Plonker - wish I'd never sold it. You can entertain yourself for hours on a trials bike in your back yard. I'd suggest getting one of the older machines that is eligible for vintage trials events - the new stuff...

    Camp Kitchen?

Dustproof is more of a neccessity - I always pack my stuff up clean and dry and I hate having to wash it before you cook the next meal.

    Top Pocket Camera - Suggestions?

Canon A-series cameras are nice because they take standard AA batteries and record some pretty good images. One of the reasons I like Canon over some of the other brands is the shutter lag is minimized (time to actually take the picture after you press the magic button) - more like a film...

Pro grade Point and Shoot? Suggestions?

I've got a G5 and a Canon 20D - I use the G5 very regularly and its a great camera just the ticket when I don't want to lug around the SLR but still want most of the capability. I'd recommend the G9. Canon software is very good as well. My sister has a Canon S1 that's pretty nice and some of...

On showers, pump failures, and body odors

I'm planning to enclose my pump and showerhead in a watertight case like a Pelican with inlet and outlet ports that will be fitted with quick disconnects. I'll have the flat plate heat exchanger under the hood of my Land Rover plumbed into the heater hoses and into some quick disconnect fittings...

Series Rover guru's, need some help/advice!

Its a 1967 to 71 truck - 1966 Land Rovers had the windshield wiper motors on the windshield. Best guess is that its a 67 with later model fenders but it could be a 69-71 that's had the earlier grill panel installed. If its got power brakes its probably the latter. Still very much a project...

You might also want to look at the Centri Pre-cleaners - they are aluminum and stainless construction. I have a 3" diameter Centri on my truck.

Also try gently cleaning out the junk from under the lip of the seal with some kind of thin plastic scraper. Sometimes the leaks are caused by trash that gets under the seal and removing it will slow it down.

    Defender 110 with 300Tdi/R380

I had to swap out the return lines between the injectors in order to run B100. Viton tubing is needed to resist the solvent in the biodiesel - I got mine from Mcmaster Carr. It's pretty small - somewhere in the 3mm - 4mm range and the return lines are about 4" - 5" long each so you only need two...

I've seen a lot of failures with tubing connections too - I've used Swagelock Stainless fittings with great success (both on the robots at work and on my Defender 90 on-board air system). Check them out at www.swagelock.com

    Objectivity, Please.

The 1991 Range Rover Hunter edition was a decontented model for the US market that meets all of you requirements except the crank windows one. The power windows proved to be more relaiable than the crank up ones (except for the cheap window switches) so that shouldn't be an issue. The Hunter...

My relatively in-expensive offroad popup build thread

Looks like a great project - take a good look at the frame and see if it can hold up to the abuse it will receive. One of the favorite projects I've seen on the web is a guy in Germany who took an old Eriba Puck travel trailer - unbolted it from the stock frame and set it up on a heavy duty...

    Bumper trimming tool - Jigsaw??

A Bosch jigsaw will do the trick - just go slow and let the blade do the work with some coolant. I use mine for all sorts of rude, ugly stuff where I can't get to the cut with my Bosch Panther (sawzall type reciprocating saw)

    What is this thing called?

It's actually a section of Marsten Mat - used during WWII to provide a hard surface for temporary runways (particularly during the Pacific campaign). The original design was steel but later on an aluminum version was developed. It got adopted for use to help extract trucks from deep sand and...

    Snorkel Wars

I built one out of 3" diameter aluminum tubing and capped it off with a Centri precleaner. A friend of mine hydrolocked his Range Rover when his right front wheel went in a hole in a creek crossing in North Georgia. Mine's a diesel so I don't have to worry about the electronics. Plus it looks...
