    Where to get a camera?

I know a bunch of pro photographers and all them recommend B&H - I've spent a fair amount of change there myself and I'm not a pro. I've also used KEH and Abe's of Maine - my uncle who used to run a professional portrait studio always recommended Adorama. There are a lot of flaky equipment...

What Brand Camera Do You Use?

Basically a Canon shooter - have been for over thirty years. I sold off two F-1's and most of my FD lenses and bought a 20D with a couple of nice "L" lenses (need a couple of more still). I kept my first F-1 though just to have a good 35mm film body for some B&W stuff. I also kept my dad's old...

What colors are best for expedition vehicles

A friend of mine rented a white Land Cruiser in Costa Rica - he was driving down one of the back roads and a motorcycle cop stood and saluted as he went by - apparently all of the high government officials in the area also drove white Land Cruisers - it's good to "blend in"....

Costs of owning a LR and MPG?

Of course another solution is a diesel - My old Series IIA diesel 109 is slow but it gets mid-20's and the Tdi Defender gets 23-25 mpg running around town.

WTB Tom Sheppard Vehicle Dependent Overland Travel

My copy of Tom Sheppard's book is one of my most prized possessions - I've been a big fan of his since the days when he used to write articles for the English magazine "CAR" back in the eighties. His credentials are impeccable and I hold him in such regard that seeing his name on the list of...

    The Ultimate Awning-shelter?

I've been looking at the Shadyboy to mount on my Boler travel trailer. Are they pretty sturdy? Do you recommend using them with poles out at outer corners or will it work as a cantilevered awning? How do they perform in a windy situation? I have a Hannibal awning on my Land Rover - great awning.

    Air compressor lines?

I used 3/8 poly lines and swagelock fittings - everything is under the truck so no UV exposure problem. I have run the lines to quick disconnect fittings at the front and rear of the Rover.

Rovers Down South and Rovers North both keep a pretty good stock of Tdi parts.

Post pictures of your Land Rover.

That is indeed a picture from MAR 2007 - my second outing with the Boler trailer (another restoration project). I have attended every MAR since 1995 except for 1997 when my wife was going through chemotherapy. Until I got the D-90 I was driving an Eastnor Green Hunter as well. After the...

    Hand Tools: The highest quality/value

I'm the tool engineer over hand tools at Lockheed in Marietta - I have been working with all of the hand tool manufacturers for over twenty years. I also used to be a professional mechanic - worked on Porsches, Mercedes, BMW's, Fiats and Land Rovers. I have a lot of Snap-On tools in my personal...

    Let's talk camera BAGS...

Dust is the big killer of cameras so I usually transport mine in a Pelican case. For regular camera bags I'm a big fan of the Tenba bags - I have three or four of them - the oldest is about 25 years old and still looks great after being dragged around for many trips. www.tenba.com
